Big Hockey Tournaments went well in Minnesota and New England and the 1,000,000 basketball challenge all went off without a hitch. Shhh it's a secret .. it does not fit the narrative. They weren't in a bubble either.

There were a TOTAL of eight SARS cases in the US, with zero deaths.
The death toll for COVID-19 is currently over 163,000, and we're not remotely close to being done adding to that total.
"Just saying"

The fact that the NBA and NHL are doing well in their bubbles says very little with regard to college football, or college hockey, or any other college sport. The 'model' more closely matching what college athletics would be trying is MLB, and they are most decidedly not "chugging along".

(And it is much easier to make profession athletes spend their lives in such a 'bubble' in exchange for the $$ they receive. And even at that, MLB couldn't convince their players to go for such a 'bubble'.)

Yea, if football is gone no way other fall sports will be played. I'm very afraid of the impact to winter and spring sports; I can't see winter sports being played either. To be a real pessimist what worries me the most now is how many sports survive. No football revenue will put a major hurt on all athletic departments. Is Stanford's cuts just the beginning?

I don't doubt that the above is accurate. The tone on the radio has changed in the last five days and that tone has to be coming from somewhere. Meanwhile, pro baseball, hockey and basketball are chugging along.

Milwaukee Journal reporting that Big Ten will cancel football and fall sports within the next day or two.
The article, written by their LONG time UW football writer, bounces back and forth between 'football' and 'fall sports' but I can't imagine they would shut down football and not the others.

My wife had her annual cardiologist visit last week and they chatted quite a while after. The doctor confirmed that they are seeing lung damage with all covid cases, which we knew, but she also shared that they are seeing quite a few people with heart damage as well. She also told my wife to schedule any routine work to be completed before October. They are expecting a big surge of cases once the weather starts to get chilly enough to drive folks indoors, and once the kids go back to school. Looks like my wife and I are going to be sheltering in place well into next year.
Too bad the governor didn't mandate frequent showers and the use of deodorant rather than mandating masks. That way, we might have achieved social distancing naturally among those who refuse to follow any mandate. Stay safe!

Essentially copying over the Hockey East announcement from the separate new HE thread. This is the USCHO write-up.
