Such a well played game by both teams. Sorry either had to lose but Yale is here for good now and we'll see them again. I sense Gate was driven a bit by the need to legitimize in other people's eyes last year's "watered down" ECAC Championship and they absolutely did in spades on enemy ice. Two time ECAC tourney winner! There is a lot of confidence on this team now that they can win games regardless of how long it takes...

ECAC CHAMPIONS!
Go 'Gate!
What a weekend. These ECAC goalies are something else...thankfully, Cornell/Yale/Qpac are all seniors
Vicky Chun on Twitter...pics/tweets...all Yale, not one mention or congratulations to Colgate, ouch!
Looks like 4 ECAC teams may qualify...what are the chances 'Gate will play a league foe for travel reasons?
Will admit last year's championship felt watered-down. This year was well-deserved! Winning a championship with a full league slate is definitely something to celebrate.
Where would we be without Kalty? She should have been First Team IMO.

Pairwise Predictor says 5 ECAC teams get in:
NC$$ Tourney playin and quarterfinals at home ice of seeds 1-4
1 Minn/Ohio State Winner plays winner of 8 Minn Duluth vs #9 Harvard
2 Minn/Ohio State Loser plays winner of 7 Quinny vs #10 Clarkson or #11 Syracuse
3 Northeastern plays winner of 6 Wisconsin vs #11 Syracuse or #10 Clarkson
4 Colgate plays 5 Yale (this time at Colgate)
Pairwise Predictor Thread from TTT on USCHO stated that the seeding guidance is:
.... they did say they are going to avoid intra-conference matchups in the first round if at all possible. So I think they would probably swap Clarkson and Syracuse.
EDIT: Note that they would NOT swap #4 or #5 in this case as they said explicitly that they will not move the #4 and #5 if they are in the same conference ......
In this case, the ECAC is guaranteed to have at least one team in the Frozen Four.Last edited by vicb; 03-06-2022, 07:37 AM.Fan of CLARKSON: 2014, 2017 & 2018 NC$$ WOMEN'S DIV 1 HOCKEY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS *******https://fanforum.uscho.com/core/images/smilies/smile.gi*********

It's hard to imagine the powers that be devising a more puzzling format, though I am happy to see the tournament expanded from 8 to 11 teams. That said, and with all due respect to TchrBill and vicb, here's my "interpretation" of the brackets. Let's assume, arguendo, that the seeds are as written, with, say, Syracuse #10 and Clarkson #11. The 11/6, 10/7, and 9/8 match-ups amount to a "play-in round". Each of these 6 teams would have to win 4 games to win it all, whereas seeds #1-#5 would need "only" 3 wins. So, we have HARV(9) playing UMD(8) AT MINN(1) for the right to play MINN(1). Likewise, SYR(10) plays Qpac(7) for the right to play OSU(2) AT OSU. CLK(11) plays Wisco(6) at NoE(3) for the right to play NoE(3). Yale(5) plays at Colg(4). From there on the brackets are more easily understood. How they decide among #s 6-11 who plays on 3/10 and who on 3/11 remains a mystery.
