Congratulations to Colgate Women's Hockey - ECAC Champions, winning 2-1 in overtime. Go 'Gate.

Just walked the puppy, put on the game, dissappointed Yale's ahead 1-0. Kalty had a breakaway as time expired in the first, goalie stopped her.

It's hard to beat a team three times, it's a home game for Yale though, not very fair.

That Allyson Simpson goal was a carbon copy play of her last goal against Cornell! They were identical! Notice that goals are scored over the shoulder, glove side...
What a thrilling, nerve-wracking game. I couldn't believe we were outshooting our opponent AGAIN and losing. My confidence with Murphy in net has skyrocketed, but she is beatable. We stayed out of the box more than usual, but still gave up a pp goal.
We know what looms large now...a Yale team that swept the season series in very convincing fashion, 2 shutouts. Hope we strike first and keep the lead. And stay out of the damn box!
    Go 'Gate!!!

Another great come from behind win over an excellent Q team. Murphy would like to have the first one back but the second was unstoppable. I love this team's resolve lately. I never sensed they were nervous being behind in the third. That's also the second time lately we've seen Simpson as the winning goal sniper on that drop pass in close... a thing of beauty. Now if the God of Statistics is listening, we will happily concede Yale as winning the year's 3 game series if only we can...Go 'Gate.

Let's go Gate. Play smart and bring the pressure from the first puck drop. Beating Q and then Y/P in the Whale would be a great statement!

Ironic that we are 1-3 against Q/Y but ahead in the PWR. We’d been on their heels most of the season.

Can someone explain the NCAA tourney format with expanded teams, # of autobids and at-large? Is Harvard in, out, or on the bubble? What are Colgate’s chances with an early exit and no league hardware?

Anyone going to the Whale? Fun structure. Am contemplating, only 1.5hr drive.
Colgate and Quinny are in the NC$$ no matter what happens in the ECAC, HE or WCHA games. Harvard and Clarkson could be eliminated from the NC$$ Tourney only by the results of the ECAC and HE Tourneys.

Harvard is in as long as Northeastern wins HE OR Prinny is NOT the ECAC Champ.
Harvard is out if NE is NOT the HE Champ AND Prinny IS the ECAC Champ.

Clarkson is in ONLY IF NE wins HE AND Prinny IS NOT the ECAC Champ. If Clarkson gets in they are the #10 seed no matter what. Harvard I think can end up either #8 or #9.

Read the Pairwise Predictor thread for more detailed info about the seedings and how things are set up with the 11 team NC$$ Tourney.

I agree 100%. Stop it before someone swoops in and scores a breakaway goal...we've come close to causing that several times when the trailing player isn't on the same page. A recipe for disaster...

Hey we moved up to #5 this week and are 20 points above the other ECAC teams in the top 10 including Y and Q. Somebodies must have liked our last two weekends and shut down penalty kill. We are playing great, gritty, blue collar hockey right now when it counts. Hopefully we'll see more of it on Fri and Sat. One significant thing I noticed since the St Lawr win is other than Kalty, Katie C and Murphy, only jrs and srs are on the ice and it shows. They've earned the coaches' trust and are playing lights out. Not only the stars but everyone...Rosie, Nemo, the twins, Darcie both D pairings...solid hockey! Go Gate continue to make us proud...

That was a memorable series against our travel partner and foe. Always have the utmost respect for the Big Red, men and women. First game could have gone either way with a lucky bounce of the puck. Outshoot them 2:1 and barely get by. Guess the odds were somewhat in our favor, but nothing is a given.

Second game was gut wrenching, but cutting the deficit in half and making it 2-1 gave me some hope. Murphy is solid but not intimidating in size.

Concerns continue to be penalties and a lack of finish. They happen so frequently that they must be addressed. Seven penalties a game will be a recipe for failure against the WCHA. On the pp, we need to glue someone to that back door post. It works 99.9% of the time.

Colgate has been outscored by Yale and Qpac, 15-3. Game 1 vs. Yale, we outshot them 32-25, gave up a pp AND sh goal while going 0-6 on the pp. Even won f/o, 33-28. Game 2, gave up ANOTHER shorty and 0/3 on pp. Against Q, outshot them 38-13 and lose 4-0 in game one, and 34-25 in game 2 while winning f/o, 36-20. With Noemi back and Murphy in net, there is reason for optimism. Qpac is very balanced and Yale is stingy on defense. The fact that SLU put up 8 goals vs. Yale (think one was an ENG) is a relief.

Score the first goal, bottle up the neutral zone, block shots, and play smart, disciplined, aggressive hockey. What’s with the new, drop back passes from the red line to the blue line? Seems like the latest craze that is unproductive and useless. See it with both M/W.

Rest up, Colgate. As the higher seed, we'll be the home team? Every little bit helps. No. 5 in the PWR, so crucial.

ECAC Championships are at the highest remaining seed: Yale is the host for the 2 game semifinal as well as the final.

How are you feeling about your upcoming matchup with Quinnipiac?
Tough team and essentially a home game for QPac but I like our chances with Nemo back from the Olympics and with our goaltender situation resolved. if we stay out of the box and don't over pinch to allow uncontested breakaways, we'll be fine. I also think Princeton can give Yale a battle. Harvard was overrated...
