  • UNH 2021-22: Fire Witt...or aka Things that would happen if Marty GAF

Going into her 8th year at UNH, Witt has 1 year with a record over .500.

In 15 total seasons she has just 3 that were over .500.

Meanwhile, even with 4 seasons at under .500 at the end, Coach Mac still has a career winning % of .672.

But hey, wasn't she supposed to be hauling in the national team caliber players due to her playing career, or was that just wishful thinking on our part?

Nice to see Sam Faber coming back to Durham, but I'm not sure it matters much unless there's a change at the top.

"If Marty GAF" pretty much sums it up.

Just look at the one-time flagship athletic program known as Mens Hockey. Nothing is going to change at the U. unless there is a change in leadership.

Talli Warren to New Brunswick. That is a headscratcher.

Interesting stats Freak and I also have some issues with Coach but until the cancer is cut out, I can’t fault Coach to where we start all over! Scarano has decimated our hockey programs! Not just on the ice but both Friends groups are history!! I know that that hurts some longtime strong advocates of UNH hockey!! He has to go if there is any chance of even trying to compete any more!
On the other side, look at our Alumni now playing in the NWHL…all have become intricate parts of their respective teams! Point being that the talent is here and has been so I see that as a major strike against Coach…I’m not sure in 8 years if her system has shown much given the stats…
I’m sure that Fabs being back will be huge for the program but let’s not expect her alone to bring us to Nirvana! It all boils down to getting MS out of Durham so we can resurrect our programs!! Hopefully fans will be allowed back to Lake Whitt and then maybe the fans can once again become part of the programs that once were the envy of HE!

Hey, Marty, if you're not working on Witt's contract extension, what are you waiting for? She's clearly executing your plan to a "T."

I posted this yesterday on another thread, before freak revived this thread….you can add to my narrative that we stand at 0-5-1 after this weekend’s losses to BC(despite valiant efforts!) 3 weeks into the new season and we’re done with BU & BC!

I’m continually amazed at how UNH puts itself behind the 8-ball all the time! Currently, UNH and BU have played 5 games, BU has 11 points, UNH-1! As with most teams, the Wildcats get better as the season progresses, and have done so the past few years….so WHY schedule HE conference games so heavily while the others take time to get their skates underneath themselves? Every year UNH suffers in the standings because they do this to themselves!!
Yes, they easily could love this by winning these early games but they don’t! So why force the issue when other teams use this time more proficiently……‍

As Coach Faber said in a tweet after the 4-1 vs Maine, “better everyday”….aside from the win, the Wildcats did play markedly better! The game’s broadcast had UNH alumni Kacey Bellamy enhancing the product, sharing her knowledge of the game and her Wildcat experiences……exactly what Coach Faber is doing on the ice! Both these players know what it takes to succeed, so yes, everyday will get better! IMHO, if we can start with composure/confidence with the puck and possession time it will allow the basics to develop…..go Wildcats!

                2021-22: 11-21-2 (0.353)

                UNH: 98-148-26 (0.408)

                Career: 194-274-49 (0.423)

Better back up the Brinks truck, Marty. Definitely don't want to lose this one.

Don't worry, 4 captains this year will make the difference.

With the new AD coming from the Ivy League, Witt has pretty much guaranteed herself to stay at UNH forever as long as the kids remain happy and do well in school. Wins and losses will be irrelevant.
