The Steelers and Penguins have mentioned wanting to help keep Robert Morris hockey alive, but how long would that take? And what happens if half the team has moved on by then? You can't tell the players to sit tight and wait a little longer because the Steelers and Penguins want to help maybe save the program - they're already going to be lucky to find a roster spot somewhere, especially with everyone getting a bonus year after last season. Rosters are full, with probably very few exceptions.

What happens if Robert Morris supporters do eventually manage to raise the money to keep the program, but it's too late to schedule a season of games? Can you be in a conference and just not play a season?

This captures exactly how a hockey person would see this situation.
It pretty much covers everything. Worth a read. Written by Katelyn Pippy’s mom.

Alabama-Huntsville has run into these type of issues on the men's side after dropping the program, deciding that decision was premature, and then being one of the programs that others didn't want in their conference.

Happy to see Templeman and Kirk find a home at OSU.

RMU players got a lawyer and are trying to get their programs back.

RMU is committed to bringing its programs back for 21-22 season if this is correct. Awesome work by all involved. Probably still on life support and rosters been gutted but fingers crossed they can figure this out. D1 NCAA hockey in Pittsburgh makes sense.

The women's team lost their coach, lost at least 1/3 of their roster, and other teams have scheduled. I don't see how they could get anything established for 2021-22.

They may be able to take actions in 21-22 that would make them better able to compete going forward. Even if they can't schedule a full complement of games, I would think that there would be a lot of good will in the hockey community so teams would be willing to play exhibitions with them if nothing else. Given the glut of players with the extra years of eligibility, I would think that they can have a decent roster back together for 22-23 if the financials are in place.

For athletic programs, the takeaway should be to exhaust every avenue before pulling the plug on a program, because once you blow it up, it is exponentially more difficult to get it back.

Just saw a tweet that Michaela Boyle will be returning to her New England roots at BC this season.

Agree. This whole mess was done bass akwards from the start.

We as a species seem awfully challenged to learn from other's mistakes and not repeat them ourselves.

I'd love to know the nuts and bolts of discussion about pulling the plug and Watts the Bob M leaders thought the reaction would be. And surely they did some if/then thinking. Watts every they did, it was wholly inadequate. I wonder if the Women's Sue team was still around and they pulled the plug if the outcome would have been different in the current climate.

They can probably sign a whole team of players and recruits cut by tOSU!

One of their juniors signed an NWHL contract rather than transfer her senior season...would the NCAA let her rescind that and come back if she even wants to?
