I used bestplaces.net's Cost of Living scores that use 100 as the nationwide average and looked up what I think is every D1 school in the east region (apologies if I forgot anyone). Maine ranks 28th of the 35 schools I looked up.

Regarding the scores, if the number for a school is above 100, the difference is the % above the national average. If the number is below 100, the difference is the % below the national average. For example, Boston is 162.4 so the cost of living in Boston is 62.4% higher than the national average. Orono, ME is 90.1 so the cost of living there is 9.9% below the national average.
    School City Rating Rank
    LIU Jericho, NY 203.1 1
    BU Boston, MA 162.4 2
    BC Boston, MA 162.4 2
    Northeastern Boston, MA 162.4 2
    Harvard Boston, MA 162.4 2
Sacred Heart Fairfield, CT 153.6 6
    Princeton Princeton, NJ 148.1 7
    Dartmouth Hanover, NH 145.6 8
Merrimack North Andover, MA 141.2 9
    Stonehill Easton, MA 126.6 10
    UNH Durham, NH 117.0 11
    UVM Burlington, VT 111.5 12
    St. Michael's Colchester, VT 109.9 13
Penn State State College, PA 108.0 14
    Quinnipiac Hamden, CT 107.4 15
    Brown Providence, RI 105.1 16
    Providence Providence, RI 105.1 16
St. Anselm Manchester, NH 104.1 18
Yale New Haven, CT 102.2 19
Holy Cross Worcester, MA 102.2 19
Franklin Pierce Rindge, NH 100.8 21
    Cornell Ithaca, NY 98.8 22
    UConn Storrs, CT 96.0 23
    RPI Albany, NY 94.6 24
    Union Albany, NY 94.6 24
    Post Waterbury, CT 93.8 26
Lindenwood St. Charles, MO 92.2 27
    Maine Orono, ME 90.1 28
    RMU Pittsburgh, PA 87.5 29
    Colgate Hamilton, NY 86.8 30
    Syracuse Syracuse, NY 79.0 31
    SLU Canton, NY 78.5 32
    RIT Rochester, NY 78.4 33
    Clarkson Canton, NY 76.0 34
    Mercyhurst Erie, PA 74.6 35
EDIT: I realized I forgot LIU and Stonehill which were in two fairly big metros so I recalculated.

Sad to have to look for coaches this time of year.

No admission charge and they average 212 per contest. Interesting.

Watts is the cost of living in Maine vs the more urban locations of the other Hockey East schools?

I'm hearing one of the top DIII head coaches is departing for a new gig, a DI assistant job.

EDIT: I previously speculated this person might have left to be part of the new staff at Maine when I first posted this and updated with new info.

Penn State hires Makenna Newkirk (BC 2019, most recently assistant coach at Brown) as their new assistant coach replacing Melissa Samoskevich.

If it's a full-time job then they work in the summer. At Maine, who knows?! Isn't this an underfunded program historically when compared to other D1 programs?

Here's something from an online story I just found:

"Fox/ABC Sports was told that the general council for the University has been in communication with the Reichenbach’s attorney, Kelly Hoffman, regarding the matter. Multiple sources also say equity issues could be at play."

Good catch. As of now each is an assistant coach on their respective team.

He retained the assistants....interesting. One would have thought he'd want a complete culture flip. It does say they were under contract, maybe he didn't have a choice.

They also picked up Chobak from UMD.

Yeah I wish Katie would have called me on this one. Oh well, I won't be able to add her organization to the list of ones I advise on my resume. That would have been a good one.
