I know, I was in a mood this afternoon for sure. But tomorrow is another day and a new game, so hopefully things get reset and we'll get some good hockey.

Syracuse losing to anyone is good news (haha)...I wonder if Lindenwood is going to be the spoiler all season.

I woke up this morning, set up my internet radio stations, and "When The Levee Breaks" came on...first thing I thought was, "Reddington would be proud of me (hahaha)", because who doesn't like some good morning Zeppelin? Well, besides my upstairs neighbors, I mean.

      • That's a good sign!!! I'm sure Kampersal let the girls know that the result yesterday was unacceptable and let's see how they respond or changes he makes.

          • If the prior comments were true and the team lacked fire or enthusiasm from some of the players, would hope Kampersal would sit some players and let others have a chance. This team has way too much talent to be under-performing like this. TBH if they win the CHA and keep playing like this, it would be a darn-shame for this team to get a NCAA bid over one of the WCHA teams who would miss out.

            • After one period, a much improved Penn State team leads 2-1, on goals from Natalie Heising and Julie Gough. Penn State leads the shots on goal by 11-4, and both teams have taken one penalty (both goals were on the powerplay). Passing is much better today, unlike yesterday's slow lazy passes...today they're hitting sticks. The effort is greatly improved as well - Penn State is going after pucks that they sat and watched yesterday, and looks much more determined to dictate the pace. Brown has a few really good players, so I think they're going to be better than they were a couple years ago.

(Edit: Heising's goal tied her for the program record for goals...or points...or both, I can't remember)

              • After two, Penn State is up 3-2 on a goal from Kiara Zanon - all three Penn State goals have been powerplay goals. Natalie Heising got the assist, but I'm not sure where that puts her in the program record book...either tied or top for points. Shots on goal, according to the live stats, are 41-15 for Penn State...the announcers say 22-8. Brown isn't giving up, for sure, but Penn State spent a lot of time in the offensive zone in the second period.

                • Penn State takes this one by a score of 5-2 on third period goals from Alyssa Machado and an empty-netter from Rachel Weiss. The live stats now say final shots on goal were 36-14 for Penn State. Brown took three penalties to Penn State's two. Brown looked a lot better than expected, and they have some really quick players, so they're off to a good start despite the outcome from this weekend.

Penn State was a lot different than yesterday, so somebody must have put some spark in their step. I'm still frustrated by the defense's puck handling, but I won't bother talking about it (yet). They're going to get tested hard by Mercyhurst next weekend, and before this season started I would've been looking forward to that series, but not so much right now. Consistency is a problem, and that's the problem. If they decide to come out of the gates blazing, every game, then it's on.

They looked really good today and really controlled the flow of the game. Forwards are so fast and some of them have some wicked shots, and that was fun to watch.

                  • Can't complain about a win. Weiss had a nice pass to Machado and was rewarded with an empty netter. Heising's wristers get on you in a hurry. As good as Heising's shot is, Gough's might be better. Brown was limited to 15 shots in game 2. I think in 6 out of 8 games PSU has limited opponents to under 16 shots which makes their record even more of an enigma. Back to the drawing board for Mercy Hurst which is always a contested series. The battle of the Clarkson transfers adds an added twist with Pigeon and Mitchell.

                    • Jessica Adolfsson hasn't skipped a beat back in Sweden - check out this penalty shot. She makes it look like a shot I could make (but I'd fall down at the blue line):

Heising's goal was so quick, and so was Kiara Zanon's right after that one. Olivia Wallin has a wicked shot, too, when she gets a chance to shoot the way she wants to. Here's a highlight video of the goals from yesterday:

                        • Thanks for posting all the links. Good luck trying to chase Weiss down from behind.

                          • Three articles ahead of the Penn State vs Mercyhurst series tomorrow and Saturday, the first of their CHA conference schedule. Tomorrow's game is at 6:00 (Eastern), and Saturday's game is at 2:00 (Eastern). Both games are streaming on Stretch Internet at $9.99 per game (https://portal.stretchinternet.com/mercyhurstwhockey/). This is a huge road series for Penn State, and will be a big marker for where they're at. Mercyhurst looks as good this season as they always do, and they have two good goalies that they rotate, so this is going to be a big test for Penn State.

                            • Kampersal is pulling out all the stops with a practice at Mercy Hurst. Sisto will bring his schematics for sure tonight. Nothing like a rivalry game.

                              • After one period at Mercyhurst, it's 0-0. I don't have the video stream, so I don't know how play is going, but Penn State leads the shots on goal by 15-4, and that's surprising. No penalties for either team. Penn State must have come out with a purpose.

The lines are shaken up because Olivia Wallin isn't dressed for the game, so the top line isn't the top line, and the others are shuffled because of it.
