As a Tigers fan, I'll defend that trade until I die. Alexander was amazing down the stretch in 1987, and there is no way that Detroit catches Toronto without him. The last ten days of that regular season was my favorite time ever as a baseball fan. The Tigers started the year 11-19, and then spent the next five months slowly reeling in the Blue Jays. The two teams played seven games over the last ten days and, other than the final game, in which Frank Tanana outdueled Jimmy Key for a 1-0 victory on a Larry Herndon solo shot, the team that scored first lost every game.Originally posted by ARM View Post
