Politics and sports really don't mix - same reason most restaurants are apolitical. Most people don't want food with a side of politics. Another year of post-grad hockey down the drain. Don't kid yourself. The NHL just took on a billion dollar line of credit. The NHL is in no position to fund Women's Hockey.

Living up to one’s stated values isn’t always easy. Barstool Sports is the antithesis of what the NWHL stands for. The league will find $ other places. They’ve done better this year than last and will keep at it.

While I actually enjoy much of BS’s content, it is absolutely misogynistic and geared toward an adolescent male mentality (see Rough & Rowdy Ring Girls as just one example). If the Whale bailed for the reason you say, I would kick them out of the league. You can’t compromise your organizations core values just because someone knocks on the door with a bunch of money. At least, that’s what I try to teach my daughter.
I understand that perspective. It certainly is uncensored and not for young girls to listen to in my opinion. Nevertheless, young girls have no money and cannot support a professional women's hockey league. Why wouldn't Nardini be a good person to be involved? She was considering buying a team. She is the CEO of a huge company. She loves hockey and gives much needed publicity to players on her podcast and to the league in general. She runs a business. She is a great role model for these young girls as much as any D3 player running out the string in the NWHL. Its a bunch of PC bull**** that caused this. They came after Nardini for no reason at all other than they don't like Barstool. Mostly based on what they perceived Barstool to be based on 10 year old clips. They poked the bear and the bear is biting back. Will be very interesting to see what happens. You get Nardini and Dave Portnoy riled up and they take action.

Looks like the NWHL is imploding. The Whale bailed out of the bubble for non Covid reasons reportedly. The reports are that they did in protest for the league’s treatment of Erica Nardini and Barstool Sports who was a major supporter of the league. Barstool is now threatening to set up a well funded competing league. Hopefully that happens and they get all the good players from both the NWhl and pwhpa. The talent level in the NWHL is not good enough.

Great hockey! Kudos to the league for doing what it takes and finding a way to have a season. Unfortunate for the Riveters, and the league, that Covid still managed to creep in and bring an early end to their season. NBCSN also deserves recognition for carrying the semis and championship for all to see....awesome!

Just watched the Six vs Whitecaps. 4-3 Six win. Broadcast was free and excellent, on Twitch, which a person can watch on their tv assuming you have a smart tv. Grant- Mentis was a ton of fun to watch, I think she played at Merrimack and I had never seen her before. Lindsay Eastwood, now of the Toronto Six was on for at least 3 Toronto goals. Enjoyed watching her as well. I am hoping the league doesn’t get ravaged by COVID and can make it to the end of their season next week (semi and final broadcast on tv in the US). This is a ton of fun to watch, feels a bit like World Junior tournament vibe. Sharing in case anyone else wants to get on board watching. Anyone else already watching?

The NWHL will have a two week season in late January through early February at Herb Brooks arena with all players in a bubble.

The short season will be a round robin where each team plays the other five once. Then a play-in round, semifinals and final game for the Isobel Cup.

This is pending final approval by the NWHL, ORDA and the state of New York.
