Very cool. Good to see women's recruiting is picking up.

Or at least we are finding things out earlier.

When RPI moved its women's program to D-I, I figured that we would have an even harder problem recruiting women than we have recruiting men due to selection of majors. I have been quite surprised how many women major in technical fields.

It doesn't seem all that surprising to me. Times are changing, and women are more openly expressing their interest in the sciences.

Generally speaking, I think that the quality of the academic program is a much bigger consideratin for female hockey players than it is for the men, who more often than not go into college hockey with dreams of playing pro hockey. The vast majority of female players expect college hockey to be the peak of their hockey careers and that they will then rely on the quality of their college education to take them through the next steps in their lives. RPI should emphasize the rigor of their academic programs when recruiting women, and I think they do.

Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

That makes sense, but it still seems to be a hard sell.

Re Jordan Smelker. That surprises me, but certainkly congrats to her.

Looking at the roster, I wonder what the definition of "under 22" is. Someone could use some technical training in elementary arithmetic. (Smelker qualifies, but by most definitions several don't unless they are using Mars years.)

Does anyone know if the women's team is already to campus as the men's team is? I am curious about when the roster will show up on the net.
