Having extricated themselves from the basement last night, the Engineers will try for further advancement against Brown. If either team wins in regulation, it will move into a tie with Harvard for either eighth or ninth place, depending on how Yale does against Union.

Brown seems to play somewhat closer to the vest than Yale did last night. The Bears have scored more than three goals in only one game, but have given up more than three in only two. They lost to Union last night, 3-1, with Union's final goal coming into an empty net.

Hoping for a bit more equitable officiating today. We won and a win is a win. But the hit against Hotson was the definition of a major. The player who hit him (#17) hit him a couple feet from the boards, squarely from behind, and attempted to use his shoulder or elbow to make the hit high on the body near the head. Thankfully Tyler seemingly was OK after the hit staying down only a short time. Perhaps we need to learn from some of our opponents and lie down on the ice to call attention to the hit? Or get carried off and wait until the review is made only to return to play after the call is made? If any of our boys even comes close to making that hit, say Caron or Lee, they get the major and are gone for the game without any review.
One other point - if we only learn how to clear the puck out of our own end on the first or even the second attempt, we win this one easily as 2 of the Yale goals were directly related to our inability to get the puck out past the blue line after repeated attempts.
But we did look darn good for most of this game and perhaps this is the start of something. Go Red!!!!!!!

Totally agree with your assessment of the hit from behind. Also, the Yale player plowing into our goalie was exactly the same as when our player ran into Yale's goalie. How do we get penalty and they get nothing. Very strange officiating last night. As for our defense, it is still awful. McDermott had the puck on his stick in front of the net with Yale players all around him. All he had to do was clear the puck to the corner, but he hesitated and they took the puck and scored. There were other plays where we handed them the puck but thankfully Geisbrecht saved us.
That said, it was nice to get a win.
        Now on to Brown.

Other positives to build on: 40 SOG may be a season high. Held Yale to 28 SOG. Entering the game we allowed nearly 35 SOG. Won faceoffs 38-33, but the ESPN+ announcers said that at one point in the third period the advantage was something like 11-3. 2-2 on the PP and held Yale to 1 for 4. After going 11 games without scoring a goal, Hotson now has goals in each of his last three games. Gilson (1 A last night) now has 6 points in his last 5 games and leads the team with +13 for the season.

Yes, but BU were missing several of their players who are playing in the world junior championships.

i believe that Brown has an audio feed. Go to thevarsitynetwork.com

Forgot about the matching goalie interference - non call. I guess those things are only called one sided. That was clearly more than similar yet no penalty call. Unfortunately I have seen this so many times over many years that I just accept the bad officiating and move on.

Brown's feed was the first thing I checked this morning. I should have posted it. Thanks for doing so.

Probably the high point of Brown's season thus far was when they scored a sweep of the North Country trip.

They did so while scoring a total of two goals in regulation time, with a 1-0 win over Clarkson and a 2-1 overtime decision over St. Lawrence.

If they are playing their game, there won't be a whole lot of scoring tonight.
