Would appreciate a response from doncherry it possible. I realize education opportunity is a factor but the chance to excell at the D3 would be an attractive option for many.
Hawk - keep an eye on the NESCAC this year on this question as there will be something like 6 D1 transfers playing for various NESCAC teams . .

Midd had played Concordia a number of years prior (in the Old Duke) and crushed them 8-1 as the Stingers thought they could club Midd into submission and kept 2-3 skaters in the sin-bin for most of the game.

03-04 was a fun year as Midd crushed the visiting Platty Cardinals 8-1 and Norwich Cadets 6-2 (Kevein Cooper's highlight goal off the opening draw at 0:06) enroute to what still ranks as the most exciting Frozen Four hosted by Norwich later that season.
I apologize for errors in teams. So much for the memory. I did remember they were all close games. We thought Sask was going to dominate..they just looked so imposing. Meh...wrong again.
I walked out the second day of the tournament. A player for Midd or Holy Cross fell coming out from behind the net with the puck. Kicked in the head. He immediately went into convulsions and was turning purple. They worked on him, for a while and he lived, but we thought he was going to die right in front of us. We were all rattled. Probably the most disturbing thing I have seen in person in hockey.

I agree re: Top Dl reams. Unequivically. As to guys transferring, my feeling is that even if the writing is on the wall about ice time and a future in hockey, guys will stay with their Dl team rather than go Dlll to be with their buds, possible financial considerations, and ego.

When you go to the top tear D1 games you see all these lower roster players standing around watching there team play. I just mentioned it because you got to feel sorry for the guys, no top recruit wants to just be a sub for 4 years and get little ice time. And I know you can't tell a lot by looks but the BC and UVM USHL subs looked like prime time D3 players to me.

                  Re: Dl vs Canadian CIS

This is an interesting thread. I would think that most Div. III teams could do well against the CIS teams. I know that this is the NCAA thread, but what do you think of Iowa State's match-up at the University of Manitoba Thanksgiving Weekend? Good move for the underdog or example of biting off a little more than they can chew?
