Long drive - why won't Elmira travel to Curry - they "owe" Curry a game, blah, blah, blah, ...

I agree with both points. In terms of fairness, The Soaring Eagles should be bussing it to Max Ulin arena, instead of sitting on their arses in Pine Valley. Especially if it WAS a late addition discussed on the day of the Play-in due to LVC dropping out, EC should owe Curry the home ice advantage for being kind enough to accommodate them in the schedule.

But, a game is a game, no matter the location. And what a strategically advantageous game it is.

For Curry, it is a HUGE boost to the SOS, which improves their at-large case, should they fail in the ECACNE tourny. They are probably a slight improvement in SOS away from being the only NE team in the Pool C discussion.

For Elmira, it's a game against a team that, honestly, they should beat 9 times out of 10, while actually helping the SOS cause. The Bottom half of the SUNYAC does wonders for the OOP, but hurts the OWP a little too. Curry would a bit of a hit to the OOP, but would bolster the OWP to balance out the low SUNYACs. And then they have the Plattsburghs and Oswegos to bring both numbers significantly up, now that they have balanced the positives and the negatives for those that HAVE negatives.

Kudos to both coaches for recognizing a great opportunity, and jumping on it.

Curry is one of the few ECAC NE teams that tries to upschedule as much as they can. NC games this year, SNHU (ugh), Stonehill (ugh), Tufts, Manhattanville, Norwich, NEC, Bowdoin, Hobart, Utica, and Geneseo. Except for the first two, that's a decent NC schedule.

That being said, I'm not thrilled with their coach's bench deportment. I do like their scheduling philosophy.

I have heard the Bears will be traveling to the Boston area for a pair of games, I think over the Christmas/New Year break.
Manhattanville visits for a pair, Bears go to Neumann for 2, a game in Placid.

While I have not seen schedules, I am willing to bet they'll be playing at Hobart or Utica on the same weekend road trip. Curry does one weekend road trip through upstate NY and gets some quality competition. I am also willing to bet both ECAC West teams that they play this year will probably go out there next year, or the next two. If we're looking for ECAC realignment, take every olive branch you can get!

Stonehill and SNHU are DII, so they're basically exhibitions that count for stats.

I'm not sure NEC and tufts count as good non-conf games this past year, as they combined to be 1 game under .500 (plus utica being 6 games under .500)

Granted you could do much *much* worse (see: fredonia; manhattanville; nichols), but they're not in the same class as the rest of that list.

Curry also played Babson and Potsdam this year.SNHU and Stonehill, while D2,were always on their schedule as they played in the ECACNE until this year. Some years turn out tougher than others but the Colonels year in and year out maintain a pretty strong non-conf schedule.

So, Manhattanville is back on the Potsdam schedule after a one-year hiatus.

Neumann is obviously to return this years trip up to Potsdam. In fact, they've been going back and forth for a while now, haven't they?

Is the Boston trip a tournament? If not, sounds like some NE teams.

No Utica? A shame, considering the quick rivalry that built up between these two after what happened back in November.

When those games were scheduled, Utica and NEC looked to be much stronger opponents. You never know how teams will turn out a year in advance.

As part of the divorce decree between the ECAC-NE and the NE-10, the two conferences agreed that each NE school would play 2 games vs the NE-10.

Salem State will not be traveling out of region next year. I think they are keeping the same in-region OOC's but I have no idea who the other 2 games will be.

You have wonder who Norwich will play in the first game. I get the feeling that would like to play both Adrian and Manhattanville in the tournament. The talent level of Nicoles would appear to be a step below the other teams.
