  • Bracketology through games on February 3rd:

    CCC: Curry (7)
    MASCAC: Plymouth State (11)
    MIAC: Augsburg (29)
    NCHA: Adrian (3)
    NEHC: Hobart (1)
    NESCAC: Trinity (2)
    SUNYAC: Geneseo (6)
    UCHC: Utica (5)
    WIAC: Stevens Point (T-9)

    At-Large:

    Elmira (4)
    Plattsburgh (8)
    Bethel (T-9)
    Norwich (12)

    First Four Out:

    Stevenson (13)
    St. Norbert (14)
    Hamilton (15)
    Bowdoin (16)

Now with a 9/4 Split, there's 2 ways you can play this - adhering to the 500-mile rule, which means NY teams are playing Adrian, or you break the 500-mile rule, and the 4 teams in the West play each other for 1 spot in the Frozen Four. I've included both scenarios here:

    Version 1 (500-mile rule intact)

    First Round:

    Augsburg @ Bethel
    Geneseo @ Elmira
    Norwich @ Trinity
    Plymouth State @ Utica
    Plattsburgh @ Curry

    Quarterfinals:

    Plattsburgh/Curry @ Hobart
    Plymouth State/Utica @ Norwich/Trinity
    Geneseo/Elmira @ Adrian
    Augsburg/Bethel @ Stevens Point

Version 2 (No 500-mile rule, keep West intact)

    First Round:
    Augsburg @ Adrian
    Bethel @ Stevens Point
    Norwich @ Utica
    Plymouth State @ Geneseo
    Plattsburgh @ Curry

    Quarterfinal:
    Plattsburgh/Curry@ Hobart
    Plymouth State/Geneseo @ Trinity
    Norwich/Utica @ Elmira
    Bethel/Stevens Point @ Augsburg/Adrian

The pairwise is a log jam right now. Trine was solidly in the top 10 and dropped almost 20 spots this weekend after a loss and OT win against Lawrence. Too many 4-6 loss teams.

That depends on how the brackets play out.

#17 St. Norbert beat #2 Adrian 6-2 so they will drop in the ratings. That should push Elmira back to hosting them.

As a FYI, the pairwise updates in "real-time" as scores get put into USCHO's system.

So generally by Saturday night at 11pm/midnight or so you'll be able to see the latest up to date information.

If all the favorites won their conference tournament, Plattsburgh would get the second of four at-large bids.

With that being said, 8-14 or 15 are VERY close and every result over the next three weeks could impact those placings. Plattsburgh making their conference final would surely be in their best interest given how close it all is and with the inevitability that one or two favorites won't win their conference tournament.
