Re: Has your team ever been ranked?

    November 22, 2010
-Plattsburgh fell out of the polls this week, the first time they've been unranked since March 5, 2007. This also ended a streak of 54 consecutive polls that the Cardinals were ranked.
-Middlebury is unranked for only the second time in school history. Since the beginning of the 1998-1999 season, the only other time that the Panthers were unranked was on January 3, 2000. This ends a streak of 179 consecutive polls that Middlebury was ranked, which was the longest streak in poll history.

    WOW!

Re: Has your team ever been ranked?

I've been updating these lists the last three weeks, but I've been too lazy to do the write ups. So, here's everything that happened the last three weeks:

    November 15, 2010
    • Geneseo is ranked for the first time since January 5, 2009.
    • MSOE is ranked for the first time since November 19, 2007
    • Nichols received votes for the first time since November 9, 2009
    • Lawrence received votes for the first time since November 23, 2009

    November 22, 2010
    • UW-Stout is ranked for the first time since November 16, 2009
    • Castleton received votes for the first time since November 16, 2009
    • Becker and Buffalo State received votes for the first time in school history.
    • Gustavus Adolphus rose to number six in the polls, which is tied for the highest position they've ever achieved (they were sixth on March 1, 2010).
    • Hamline is number five this week, the first time they've ever been ranked in the top five. Their previous peak was 7th (achieved January 4, 2010).
    • Plattsburgh fell out of the polls this week, the first time they've been unranked since March 5, 2007. This also ended a streak of 54 consecutive polls that the Cardinals were ranked.

    November 29, 2010
    • Buffalo State is ranked for the first time in school history
    • Castleton is ranked for the first time since March 5, 2007
    • UMass Boston received votes for the first time since March 10, 2008
    • Williams is ranked in the top five for the first time in school history. Their previous peak was 6th (achieved three times).
    • Milwaukee School of Engineering is ranked 11th this week, the highest they’ve ever been ranked. Their previous peak was 13th (achieved February 13, 2006)
    • Elmira fell out of the polls this week, the first time they've been unranked since October 15, 2007. This also ended a streak of 54 consecutive polls that the Soaring Eagles were ranked, which was tied for the tenth longest streak in poll history. Coincidentally, the streak started and ended one poll after Plattsburgh’s streak of 54 consecutive rankings.
    • Middlebury is unranked for only the second time in school history. Since the beginning of the 1998-1999 season, the only other time that the Panthers were unranked was on January 3, 2000. This ends a streak of 179 consecutive polls that Middlebury was ranked, which was the longest streak in poll history.

That's pretty impressive, considering this will be their second season, they went 3-22 last year, and they start their season on the 19th against #1 Norwich. Seriously, how the hell did the Nor'easters get seven votes?

Got anything I missed? Or maybe you know something about UNE that I don't know? Feel free to tell me.
I gotta believe some voters confused UNE with NEC

Re: Has your team ever been ranked? (and other D-III poll related lists)

This week's poll is out, and it features all of the wackiness that I was expecting two weeks ago.

So, based on these crazy lists that I've come up with, here are some interesting notes from this weeks poll.

Marian is ranked for the first time in school history. The Sabres are currently 4-1, with wins against UW-Stout, Finlandia, and most importantly, Adrian. Saturday's 5-4 victory snapped the Bulldogs epic MCHA winning streak, dating back to November 30, 2007.

St. Scholastica fell out of the polls for the first time since December 21, 2008; ending a streak of 31 consecutive appearances. The Saints are 2-2, and despite wins against Concordia (MN) and St. Johns; they were hammered twice by UW-Stevens Point.

Speaking of which, UW-Stevens Point is ranked for the first time since February 16, 2009. Despite a season opening loss to Lawrence; the Pointers have been on fire, with two convincing wins against then ranked St. Scholastica, and a dominating performance against Hamline.

UW-Eau Claire received votes for the first time since February 2, 2009. The Blugolds start the season 2-1, with victories over Lawrence and ranked Gustavus Adolphus, and their only loss coming in overtime to Augsburg.

MSOE received votes for the first time since November 9, 2009. The Raiders are off to a 4-0 start, with wins over Northland and Concordia (WI). OK, so those teams are a combined 0-8; undefeated is undefeated, right?

Morrisville received votes for the first time since November 9, 2009. The Mustangs beat Geneseo 3-2, giving the Ice Knights their first loss since getting busted in the student aid package controversy.

Utica received votes for the first time since November 16, 2009. Despite a 6-0 shellacking at the hands of Elmira, the Pioneers are off to a very strong 4-1 start (even if two of those wins were against Franklin Pierce).

Salem State received votes for the first time since January 4, 2010. The Vikings opened the season with an exciting 6-5 win against Wentworth. By the way, the MASCAC now has three votes to the ECAC Northeast's zero.

Finally, the University of New England received votes for the first time in school history, picking up seven votes.

Geneseo: Received votes for the first time since January 12, 2009

    Yeah, that's all I've got.
    ...
    Others Receiving Votes: ..., Wisconsin-Stevens Point 1, Wisconsin-Stout 1
    So maybe despite everything, 2010's Wisconsin-Stevens Point = Wisconsin-Stout & > MASCAC ... hummmm.... that's all I've got

And the only conference without a single school getting a vote?

Yep - the MASCAC. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.

To next to no fanfare, the first D-III poll is out. I was expecting some interesting and weird predictions to shake out in the polls, as that typically happens in the first poll.

That didn't happen. The first poll of the 2010-11 season looks really similar to pretty much any other poll from the end of last season (top 15 same as the last three polls, bottom few teams getting less than 35 points, NEC getting points). Besides everyone extending their "consecutive weeks ranked" streaks for another week, here are the interesting voting quirks for this weeks poll:

Babson: Received votes for first time since November 23, 2009
Geneseo: Received votes for the first time since January 12, 2009

    Yeah, that's all I've got.

Yeah, you can understand why I'd rather forget about that. Stupid hippie-fication of the school and all that.

I was out at Dartmouth last weekend, the Alpha Delta house was a must-see for me.

He is the cutest (from your provided link), and they are allowing this on the official Dartmouth.edu website

There is also a movement to have him declared the official mascot of Missouri State University.

    PS
I'd take Keggy over the Ground Round Pound Puppy anyday!!!!

Good to know. Great work compiling all this. Being one of the few around here (Is vetdome around anymore?) that supported MCLA hockey I'm sure you can understand why I was a little snippy about their exclusion.
