  • Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

I will most likely be at the CCC for Fridays game. I've been trying to get my daughter to say "go Saints", as I think we'll be bringing her to her first game. So you have all week to collect your donations for my SNC sweater, numbers 34 or 66. And, not to get greedy, but a hat as well. I need something on my dome if I am donning a sweater.

One more thing, before I leave you guys alone for a while

Thank you. I call things as I see them. I've been around the college game for 20+ years now and I've seen too much, from the highs to the lows, to be a complete homer or idiotic troll. Everything that happens is readily visible, whether in person or via the internet, so there's no sense being an idiot about things. Yes, I'm partial. I make no bones about it. But like I said, I've seen my alma mater lose 12 straight to end a season, and I've also seen them play for a national championship, all done on a shoestring budget, as far as D-1 goes. I do have a little perspective on things.

Also, one SNC supporter sent me an email regarding this weekend. I will not reveal that poster, nor will I reveal the contents. What was said there will stay there, and I'm going to leave it there. But I will say this: it was friendly in nature. Thank you, too, for your kind words. Best of luck to you guys the rest of the way.

Hope everybody got back safe, as this storm is shaping up to be as advertised.

While that is a bad thing, even if he were healthy there would still be problems. The decision making by the defensemend in the dzone is suspect at best right now. They're creating a lot of opportunity for the opponent.
While the goalies may get most of the credit for SNC's success over the years it's been the D play that has made them so good.
The knights went through a similar stretch in '12 I believe and they still ended up getting it together and winning the last game. Still time left. They need to right the ship next weekend and regain their mental edge coming down the stretch.

While I believe you entirely, where did you get this info from? I have family who are huge SNC fans that will want to know. The local paper and SNCs website say nothing.

Norm, I think she's got bigger things to deal with at this point in time.

And, sadly, this is exactly what I was referring to when I posted this yesterday afternoon, during 2nd intermission:

So I guess it is not a rumor - that is VERY unfortunate and sad event, I feel for SNC and their fans - and really all of DIII hockey - games should be won or lost with entire teams on the ice and not from uncontrollable circumstances.

I thought Plattsburgh's IMO top goalie being out - most likely for the season with an ankle injury was bad - but his is NOT broken and he is not a senior, and they do have a close second goalie.

I suspect that it's not just a rumor. We watched him limp off during warmups yesterday, and none of his movements were natural. It makes sense.

I'm not going to reveal who I heard it from, but I will say that my information is secondhand, and it did not come from anyone connected with either school.

If this is true, what really sucks is that he's a senior, and his career is likely done.

Possibly just sandbagging? A part of Coghlins plan?

No, not with what we saw. Especially when you're only dressing one goaltender at that point.

Ok I can personally confirm this is by no means a rumor, and most definitely not a plan by Cogs.
Jake has a broken ankle he will take things day to day and get through this. And move on with his hockey career whatever that may be.

You don't need a goalie. You saw what Telfar did when Shackell left the net wide open.
