They are a sleeper team to keep an eye on for sure. Five of their seven losses they were in it until the end. The only 2 games they were defeated convincingly were @Platty (5-1) and @Amherst(3-1). Add in the come from behind OT win @Bowdoin and a few blow out wins and all the sudden they look a lot better than their 9-7-2 record would indicate. It will be very interesting to see how they handle their tough schedule down the stretch (@Middlebury, @Williams, Bowdoin, Colby, home and home with Trinity)

It's nice to have all the NESCAC teams @ 12 games now. no more speculating about "games in hand". Now that it's all sorted out and even, it looks just like it has the past few years with very few points separating 2 through 6. With all the top teams having to play the other top teams from here on out it's anybody's guess what it will look like in another few weeks.

Yeah, all of a sudden Bowdoin doesn't look like the "lock" it did last week

The NESCAC always seems to come down to the wire, I don't see while this year will be any different. Not to get ahead of ourselves but, since Bowdoin has already beaten Williams twice, they hold the head to head tiebreaker so their lead is in effect 3. Bowdoin's road trip to Connecticut in a couple weeks could have big impact on deciding the regular season champ.

What Amherst and Plattsburgh have in common is they are in the top half-dozen in D3 in scoring defense at 1.78 and 1.79 respectively. Cards have already lost to the Jeffs twice and to Platt scoring 3-goals combined. The have 2 left vs Trinity with a 1.94 scoring defense number and Williams once more sporting 2.12 not to mention losing to the Ephs earlier in the season again scoring only 1 goal. Thus, putting up 11 against Hamilton overshadows Weselyan's troubles against teams that focus on defense, goaltending and counterattack. Can't see them making much noise down the stretch, but if they end up taking on Bowdoin in the first round, they may actually have an even chance. If they draw Amherst or Trinity they are likley one and done.

Your reasoning makes sense, East Coast. I think that Midd doesn't match up with Wesleyan all that well either, so I hope you are right. The worse the Cardinals do from here on out, the more likely they are to play Bowdoin. The better they do the more likely to match up with the Panthers for the quarters.

                • Wesleyan's Keith beuhler best player in the country no one is talking about?

6 point game and point on every goal in win over Bowdoin. Hat trick in that game as well as against middlebury and Hamilton.

Pretty impressive stats on a middle of the pack Nescac team.

Once again it looks like the NESCAC will come down to the wire. 6 games left and 6 points separate 1st through 5th. It looks like the top four seeds will come from those top 5 unless Wesleyan can stay hot through arguably their toughest 6 game stretch of the season. Hamilton and Wesleyan look safe to make the playoffs while Conn College, Tufts and Colby will be fighting for the final spot.

Only six points are available to the top six teams in the conference tonight as we kick off the final third of the conference schedule with #5 Amherst @ #1 Bowdoin, #6 Wesleyan @ #4 Middlebury and #3 Trinity @ #2 Williams. At the bottom of the standings, Tufts and Conn College have their home and home series this weekend which will go a long way in deciding the 8th seed at the end of the season.

Things to note in the final stretch:
Wesleyan, currently in 6th, plays 5 of its final 6 against teams currently in the top 4 of the conference.
Three home and home weekends between travel partners have yet to be played: Williams/Middlebury, Trinity/Wesleyan, Tufts/Conn College
Hamilton, who has 4 road games remaing, is 1-6-1 in road tilts this year.
Middlebury and Williams, currently sitting #4 and #2, only play teams currently slated for the playoffs in their final 6

                              Should be an exciting finish!

Defense and goaltending will take you a long way in this game.......Amherst a winner at Bowdoin and Trinity handles Williams; both being road wins. Right now Trinity is playing as well as any team in the NESCAC with some serious quality wins and a solid formula for success. How does Hamilton get beat by 4 goals at Colby after Wesleyan piles on 11 last week? Middlebury has picked up the pace and will be a threat down the stretch as usual. Cardinals are pretenders. Tufts has thrown in the towel. It's going to be a wild final weekend of play come the middle of the month.
