Ahem, the state of hockey refers to the sport as a whole. While you currently have more college titles, as a state our hockey history, and current state of hockey (ooo pun) dwarfs yours.

    Next?

That was Gopher identity crisis part 1. We're in part 2 now.

Ok, now that the chaos in the WCHA tonight is waning (although still just a tad), here's some thoughts on tonight's game:

    1. WI looked SLOW. They were getting beat to the puck a lot (although MN has to stop waiting for the pass, since that led to a couple breakaways).

    2. Thank Parise for goalposts. I remember at least 3 obvious ones (btw, great mics near the nets!).

    3. Wehrs......*shakes head*

    4. Dear WI players, maybe if you stopped trying to take a poke at our goalie after the whistle, or when the puck is obviously frozen in his possession, we
wouldn't have to go after you. I'm glad St Pat shoved back later in the game.

    5. I thought both team's first goals were fluky. MN's for the obvious reasons, and WI's was a result of a MN guy falling back into St Pat, and that led to the wide open net (although credit to WI for taking advantage and scoring the easy goal into a wide open net).

I like the gritty play between these two teams, but stop with the cheap sh*.

Hate to see anyone gloat. Bucky won't lay down and die tomorrow night so while tonight's result was awesome, it's already time to prepare for the next game.

Aside from taking too many penalties that may have been the Gophers most complete game of the season despite playing without Barriball and Hansen.

And Harley pretty sure UW beat the Gophers earlier this year.

That's the key right there. If they continue to play skilled and gritty hockey and don't take anything from wisky goons, I fear for bucky tomorrow night and expect lots of fights since that may be all they can do. However, this team is starting to get the bandwagon rolling again, so that is usually when there is a let down. I'm anxious to see what happens next. Go Gophers!

you have to admit the one with the gopher in the egret's throat was pretty hilarious. Horrible day for that gopher. Nature is brutal, much like our team tonight.

Also - i never said we had beaten anyone good. In fact, i said that we hadn't really beaten anyone good.

Good win. I'm already pretending to be over it.
