I can only hope your team has the same chemistry as you fans do here!

Seriously, I guess I could try and get this thread back on track...

Here's some recent info on our team:
    http://www.omaha.com/article/2011020...ng-way-in-wcha

    Code:
8:45 a.m. Thursday: Heading into this weekend's home series against St. Cloud State, here's some interesting numbers to chew on -- stats that add even more weight to the impressive job Dean Blais, Mike Hastings, Nick Fohr (and don't forget that Mike Kemp was in on a couple of these recruits, too) did in putting together the Mavs' 2010-11 rookie class.

As pointed out by UNO director of media relations Dave Ahlers, the Mavs' freshman class is up to No. 4 in the NCAA for point production on the numerous lists crunched by collegehockeystats.net. Notre Dame's remarkable rookie class (61 goals, 148 points and 4.93 points per game) is far and away the leader in this category. No. 2 is Union, followed by Connecticut, the Mavs and Massachusetts. Those five schools are the only ones with freshman classes averaging 3.00 ppg or better.

UNO's rookies now lead the WCHA in piling up points, having accounted for 38 goals, 43 assists, 81 points and 3.12 ppg. Freshmen have had a hand in 43 percent of UNO's goals and 33 percent of the team's points.
Here's to believing we will put some goals into the net, no matter who your goalie is this weekend.

Do you want to criticize her because she took money for a year and a half that someone else could have used? Do you have a clue how many of these guys will be paid when they leave? Sure...most of them could play in the ECHL, but, most guys in the ECHL could not afford their own apartment and a decent car payment on the ECHL average monthly check of around $2200.
Sorry for what your daughter went through, but no one pays to watch her study, no one pays money to watch her in class.
People pay to watch these guys play hockey and like it or not, they are going to be criticized when they don't play well.
All of these guys may not play pro hockey but i'd bet they all had that aspiration when they signed a D1 letter of intent.
If they don't want to ever be criticized, they shouldn't be playing D1 hockey.

Oh hell...don't feel sorry for her...she loves the switch to her new chosen major (which, who knows, may still only be another temporary one). Don't get me wrong. I have booed at games, but believe it or not, don't anymore. I guess I have taken the philosophy that none of these kids want to fail in front of 5000 people. If anyone doesn't think that that embarrassment doesn't drive these guys to want to succeed, they haven't see the disappointment after a major screw up on these kids faces. They know they have messed up big time. They don't want to mess up big time. They want to succeed every opportunity they have, but it doesn't happen. So, why should that be a license to boo a 18, 19, 20, 21 year old kid because you have forked over a crummy $20 or whatever amount to hope to be entertained? Is that 20 spot that freaking important to you that it makes it feel better to rip some college hockey player at the top of your expanded lungs because some kid who is way more talented than him just burned him? keep it in context.

I see a lot people try to use your seasoning and it is just as flawed as my point of view. Do people pay good money to watch your daughter go to school? No they don't so it is not even close to the same thing so to use that as an example makes no sense. When a player chooses to play D1 college hockey especially at a WCHA school they should know what they are getting into. This year I moved down to only two tickets so it cost me $800 to watch these kids play hockey. The last few years I had four tickets so it cost me double to watch them play. These are not high school kids and shouldn't be treated the same way. You are correct, they are not pro athletes, but they are public figures and when I am paying good money to watch them play I should be able to comment on their play. I wlll say this though, a lot us on here and this goes for me could probably tone it down a little on how we criticize these kids and not be so harsh, but that is completely different then not saying anything at all.

I paid my own way thru college, and no one criticized me. I usually only rip people behind their backs. However, I always speak the truth.

I have to admit he can be frustrating to watch at times. Largely due to ill advised penalties. I have seen him make great plays and he has a solid shot from the blue line. But he has plenty room for improvement.
Bb, I have read enough of your posts to actually think that you know what you're talking about, but I have to completely disagree with you on this one. Like it or not, people are allowed to criticize anyone. They can criticize high school players if they want. Its my personal opinion that they SHOULDN'T, but somewhere in Texas, fans feel differently about their high school football games. And D-I athletes in the best collegiate league in a team sport, yeah, they are completely feel game.

Why the confused face? You just agreed with me! And Vanek played no defense in college but he's a top 20 forward in the NHL.

Of course I'm coming to Duloot. Hopefully we'll start Dunn in goal, to give us at least a chance to win.

Nope, this team is dysfunctional family. They lost it at the beginning of this season and haven't regained it. No swagger, lack of confidence, will to win?

I think you are right on par with the lack of confidence/swagger. One little lapse in play and everything just snowballs after. I thought they'd win Friday and get back to the defensive meltdowns on Saturday. Guess I was wrong. Start Dunn tonight, maybe they will actually backcheck for him.
This is THE State of Hockey. Check your teams roster. I bet there are some Minnesotans on it

Losing tonight is completely unacceptable. I don't care how well they play, losing is losing.
