An article I was reading on Kreider's injury mentioned that Alber was supposed to be out 6-8 weeks with his broken jaw yet came back in 3, so maybe there's hope for his returning for the NCAA's?? I wonder how much the decision to return is up to the player? What if the Dr says it's 90% healed but a bad check to the head could break it worse? Does the player make the final decision or the coach?

I don't know what you were reading, but Alber was out 6 weeks to the day as far as playing in a game.

The BC women are hosting their NCAA quarterfinal on Saturday at 1pm at Conte vs. Minnesota. BU is hosting theirs at 3 pm and they have the potential to meet in the National Championship game.

Boston College may have won the Hockey East regular season title by winning both games of a home-and-home weekend against the University of New Hampshire, but it was not without a major set back.

Sophomore left wing Chris Kreider broke his jaw during Friday night's 4-0 at Conte Forum when teammate Brian Gibbons struck him with a clearing pass during the second period. Though Kreider wears a visor (a visor or cage is a requirement in college hockey), the puck found its way in. Kreider fell to the ice, bleeding from the jaw. He was able to get off the ice under his own power.

College Hockey News reports that Kreider was immediately brought to Tufts University Medical Center for x-rays and treatment. . Saturday night, according to SB Nation's BC Interruption, Eagles head coach Jerry York announced that Kreider broke his jaw in two places and would most likely be facing surgery this week. Kreider faces a possible 4-6 weeks away from the ice.

Kreider isn't the first BC player to suffer a broken jaw this season. Defenseman Patch Alber missed five games due to a broken jaw suffered in late December. His original time table for return was 6-8 weeks, but returned after only 3.

Kreider, a New York Rangers prospect, plays up for big games, as seen as his World Junior Championship performances (10 goals in his two years on the team) and his recent Beanpot MVP title, so BC wouldn't want to be without him come playoff time. But BC Interruption points out one possible bright side to the Kreider injury:

I agree. I don't think a Miami or a NoDak is relishing going up against a BC team no matter whether Kreider is there or not. That's taking nothing away from Kreider; it just points to the overall depth of the Eagles' team.

No idea if you're kidding or not, but I'll never call anyone who "blows off" a women's hockey game a bad fan. It's just entirely different. Sorry.

Congrats to the Lady Eagles, hope they do well. How did they end up hosting? And what if that game goes multiple OTs on Saturday?

Congrats to Cory Schneider...first career shutout tonight. He's 12-3-2 this year, not too shabby

                            Wow... touchy.

And I'm not being sarcastic. Slightly hyperbolic, but not sarcastic.

We ended up hosting because the committee made some wild decisions with the seeding to avoid travel. Our conference championship and very strong TUC record were the top 2 other reasons, really.

And if the game goes multiple OTs, I will have heart palpitations. With regard to the men's game, it would have to go to 4 OT to affect anything. The women's game starts at 1pm. Without OT it will end at 3pm. At the end of 3 OTs it would be roughly 5:15.

                            How's this for a bad-fan-switcheroo? I'm going to the women's game but can't make the men's game.

I don't think that makes you a bad fan...much like me not caring enough to go to the women's game doesn't make me a bad fan.

I will just say that the women's game will be way more entertaining than our 10th straight against UMass
