Anyone have any idea how this happened? Can we assume it wasn't hockey-related?

Several Hockey East head coaches along with assistants were in attendance last night for MC's 18-0 victory over St. Bernard's. St. Mary's was a winner over Austin Prep in overtime, a team that has been competitive and produced several D1 players over the last decade, sending kids to BU, UMass, Merrimack and RPI.

High school hockey is no where near as good as it used to be, but this tournament is always good. In the Division II portion of the tourney, host Saugus plays Lynnfield in that division's final. Lynnfield and Saugus High have both produced D1 players in the last decade or so. Higgins, Gordon, Flynn, Maresco, Ferullo, Petersen all played 1-4 years at Lynnfield or Saugus before transferring to prep schools. Neither team is as good as once was, but tournament is always fun and competitive. One of Lynnfield's top players is Kris Houda, a sophomore who is the son of Bruins assistant Doug Houda.
Is it at Hockey Town on Rte 1 South?

Broken jaw for Alber? That hurts in more ways than one

With Cross coming back from an injury, let's hope we just survive these two games. Should still have enough to beat Colgate, but ya never know.

If Cross doesn't play, that leaves us with 3 D-men - yikes!! Pretty bad luck to have Cross banged up, 2 guys at the WJC's and another guy out with a broken jaw due to an off-ice incident.

It was at Kasabuski at the Kelly's Roast Beef exit for those in the north shore. MC is the best public/catholic high school team I've ever seen. They were up 5-0 right away and 8-0 after 2. They just have superior talent. Kudos to Chris Serino. I wasn't a fan of his at the end of his coaching days in college, but he sure knows how to win in high school. Great motivator and knows how to attract talent. Has won at Saugus and now MC.

Fitzgerald is only a sophomore, but is obviously very good. Vecchione is a senior and looks like a stud. MC puts three forwards and one defenseman out on their top pk unit. They are stacked and they know it.

Bit of a nailbiter. About what you could have expected. Great to see them pull out a win there.

To say we looked a bit rusty would be an understatement. But with a depleted D, ugly wins are beautiful!

What a weird game, in many ways. Example: 4 of the 11 goals were unassisted (2 for each team). That's a lot of unassisted goals in one game IMO. Two of the unasssists were a direct result of sloppy turnovers, one was a funny hop off the glass and the other a weird puck bounce off the boards.

The injured reserve... Tommy Cross looked very good and didn't seem to ginger around at all. He looked pretty much full strength... hope that's accurate. Kevin Hayes also looked good, but seemed to struggle a bit in the 3rd trying to keep up. Getting back in game shape today, full strength tomorrow.
I heard Patch is out 6-8 weeks.

OK Eagles... let's win this tournament tomorrow night and get the hell out of Dodge.

York said three weeks from now on radio broadcast (which would be 6 weeks total).

Mercyhurst wins the shootout, so they'll be playing BC in the championship game.

Bummer. Dartmouth would have been the more fun matchup. Plus, I'm sure all the locals up there were waiting with baited breath for a consolation game appearance vs Colgate.

i guess you would need 4 ecac teams in a tournament to get an ecac champion!
