Nope ... my UVM travel days ... except for last year's Regional in New Haven ... are history. I was supposed to be in DC this weekend for Norwich football but that trip got called off too. Norwich hockey is still a month away (You're gonna love the freshmen) so its just a home weekend of high school football and college soccer. Check it out at www.nsnsports.net

60th Anniversary reports are coming in already. Bagman reports that Don Mercier, John Liprando, Darrell Morrow and the young Johnny MacMillan were spotted at The Campus Lounge last night.

Should be a great series that should tell us quickly where we stand against the top teams this year without our core of scoring from last year. If we could battle to a split that would be a great start for the Cats.

I'm definitely excited to take on a team with the track record and tradition of Denver. These are exactly the sort of out of conference games we need to prepare for the guantlet of Hockey East play. We can't be playing cream puffs and expect to be ready to roll with BU, BC and the rest. Last few years we've had Miami and now Denver early....I hope we keep playing the cream of the crop, highly ranked western powers out of the gate every season. Hopefully, as posted earlier, you guys do the return trip to Burlington next season.

The Denver fans posting here seem to know the college game real well...would love to hear your thoughts on how the Cats looked live after you see them play both nights.

The DU fans will definitely give their views of the games this weekend. With this being the 60th Anniversary of DU hockey with all the festivities before and after the games, it may be late at night/early morning when they finally get on here.

Let's go UVM. Two points would be great.

Hopefully Stacey is near 100% and can contribute. Milo and McCarthy are out, as is Spillane. We should see at least three Freshman forwards skate although apparently Roos is also still recovering from recent surgery although he skated last Sunday.

                    Should be fun to watch.

DU wins 5-4 after being down 4-2 at the end of the 2nd period. Big Joe Colborne nets the tying and winning goals. Shots DU 43 UVM 22

Gwoz with accolades for Brookwell and Donovan. Wiercioch had a tough start and got much better as the game went on. Said Rock and Ruegs had a tough first half of the game. Gwoz changed all the lines up in the 3rd after getting the 3rd goal. Said the team really struggled in the first half of the game. Gwoz took Big Joe and Rock aside before the 3rd period and told them that they were going to have to perform. Shades of Murray Armstrong telling guys he needed them to do something as they were going on the ice.

                          Box Score

                          Three Stars

                          First Star: Joe Colborne (Denver)
                          Second Star: Matt Donovan (Denver)
                          Third Star: Wahsontiio Stacey (Vermont)

nice meltdown by uvm. maybe they can head down the road to air force to come home with a win... maybe hit up yale on the way back. i'm just sayin.

Trivino has never been one of those players. Even outside of the rink, he'll say hi and is plenty of friendly, but has never been even close to saying or doing anything inappropriate.

Watched it on TV ... A great two periods for the Cats ... a better third period for the Pioneers ...
Congrats to the home team on an impressive come from behind win ... Colborne was solid ... can't wait to see him in Bruins Black and Gold ... in fact is there any chance he could sign tomorrow.

Not an excuse ... just a thought ... did the altitude get to UVM in the third? They really seemed to lose a step ... then another step as the period went on.

Wasn't really a meltdown by Vermont. Denver dominated the game. The Vermont goals were mostly off the counter attack and from Denver mistakes. The Pioneers were bound to win that game.
