You just don't understand the concept of 3+ years do you?

That being said we'll see what happens at CC. CC isn't very good so we'll see if they're "happy with a split" or if they actually want to climb back into the race.

Gophers looked good. Especially Patterson. He made some big time saves and controlled rebounds well. Sunday's game was fun to watch. I think it was a good thing for SCSU to be in that position early in the season. Bariball made a huge block for this team. Have to give them credit, the Gophers came ready to play.

        I'm off the bandwagon, too.

You're right. It was quite an improvement from the last few games. I guess, given the last few years and the beginning of this one, I should be happy if they can come out like they did yesterday and play for 2+ periods early in the year. Hopefully they can work towards a full game by the end of the year and continue to improve on defense. Too early to get too excited though. One game, does not a season predict.

I was never on it. I predicted a 6th place finish long before this season started, and I stand by that. The defense is young and inexperienced - and is coached by an incompetent buffoon. There's been no improvement back there in three seasons; why would I expect to see any now? Unless the players overcome the imbecile that is coaching them, it simply won't happen.

Since there are multiple colleges on I-94, and Wisconsin is a much bigger rival for the Gophs, perhaps in the future we should change this to "Battle of the Northstar Corridor"
SCSU Hockey: 2001 WCHA Playoff Champions, 2013 WCHA Champions & Frozen Four, 2014 NCHC Champions, 2016 NCHC Playoff Champions

              Gopher Football: 1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941, 1960
              Johnnie Football: 1963, 1965, 1976, 2003

I thought there would be a LOT more than there were. Nice day for a drive down, tickets easy to come by, seriously thought they'd fill in a lot. Looked like no more than Friday to me.

A lot of people rip coach Hill, but where's Potulny in this system? Is he still one of the coaches? I never seem to hear anything about him.

I think the general consensus is that he could be a great coach in the future, but he is just too raw/green to be an effective coach at this level @ this point in time. Besides, it is more fun to rip on Hill anyways.

Yeah, I always thought Hill was entirely incompetent. I heard he needs a road map to find his way across the street. Sad

Concensus is " he could be a great coach in the future"? Who all has said this and based on what? Unless you are watching most practices within hearing range and in coaching meetings to know what he really contributes, I don't know how you can say this. I realize speculation is part of the purpose of a board, but what is your basis for any of this? With Hill at least, we know (or believe we know) that Defense is his responsability, so when they consistantly underperform, we can speculate he is not doing a great job. (Not that I necessarily buy into the whole scapegoat theory that they would have won every NC if only he hadn't been there. It's more complicated than everything hinging on one assistant.) But with Potulny, the reasoning seems to be that he has less responsability than Hill so doesn't deserve the blame. That doesn't mean he has potential. There is a big difference between a player who can help carry a team and one who can translate X's and O's to wins, make adjustments based on opposing teams or changing personnel and motivating players as a coach.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry... did a Gophers Lite fan just talk about SCSU ripping off something from another hockey team? At least we steal from NHL teams we don't have to skate against.

Tell Chicago they can have their stripes back after we return our logo to the Canadiens.
tUMD is Jan Brady per Brenthoven. Whew.... thanks for clearing THAT up.

Scoobs, don't understand the hate on Patterson. He didn't play so well against UMass, but neither did Kangas. I think he deserves to split time with Kangas.

It has been awhile since I was as disappointed as I ws after that game on Friday (it sounds stupid, but it literally ruined the rest of my night). I was glad to see them come out and put up a decent, not good, but decent effort on Sunday. Will be interesting to see if any of that carries over.

Also, got to watch on TV for the first time this season on Sunday. I will say that Lapanta didn't totally bug me. Anyone else find themselves just zoning out the commentators and just focusing on the game like me? However, my brother was yelling at Mc-whatever his name is the entire game. He is pretty awful, repetitive, and boring.
"It ain't over, baby! And that took only six seconds!"

USCHO gives me another reason to not do work while I am at work.

                            Everything is Hill's fault.....

I liked Doug and the rug. I thought Frank was better than a lot gave him credit for. He did a decent play-by-play, making sure to describe things during important times, and occasionally getting lost in a conversation with Doug. He and Doug and the the right blend of homerism for a team hired to cover one team mainly watched by fans of that team (in other words, less biased than most). They cheered for good plays, but also criticized mistakes. They were pretty fair on penalty calls on both sides of the ice. And Doug, while dragging Frank into some weird converstions on occasion and making man strange statements (most of which actually addded to the entertainment), would also offer incite into areas I can't recall other color men ever offering.

The current offering, while better than the few announcers I've heard in other media or programs who tend to be over the top biased, just don't offer much to me.

Sorry, McClanahan was way before my time. I haven't been a fan of Gopher hockey as long as most of you, not to mention I am still young even though I don't always feel like it. He seems like a nice guy, but he is pretty brutal in the booth. I would like to hear Chorske in the booth even though most said he was pretty brutal as well.
