Of course, had Bennett struggled, I would have said "I'm a only a fricken' Pee Wee coach and even I knew better than to change out a goalie who just had a shutout, blah blah blah..."

    I'm such a tool.

I've been a proponent of keeping the rotation and I've noted as such multiple times. It's way too early to be picking and choosing goaltending matchups. There is a ton of hockey left to be played and both of these kids need to see rubber to stay sharp. I love what Brett Bennett brings to the table playing the puck, it's like having an extra defenseman out there on the ice.

        ^This...

Without BB's aggressive puck play last night Schultz doesn't score the 1st goal near the end of the first to give the Badgers some momentum going into the locker room and we probably end up losing. That is unless Goody would have pitched another shutout... And Zengerle? My god. The kid is a beast.
Wisconsin Hockey is life... Everything else is just filler.

I was happy with the last night's tie and the 3 points overall. I think they got Minnesota's best shot last night, or at least their best shot based on the players they had available to them. They came darn close on a couple of occasions in OT so they certainly COULD have won but I'd be hard-pressed to say they SHOULD have won. I thought the tie was an appropriate result for both teams.

On the goalie call, I had no problem with it. It was the plan going in and they stuck with it. Bennett had been terrific so far this season and I he certainly didn't play poorly last night.

Zengerle is by far one of the best players for the Badgers. I like what he brings which is offense, but he needs to get stronger gets bumped off the puck easily. He has many possitives and just one small negative. Plus he needs to shoot the puck more, easily could see 15-20+ goals from him. Also I have to say Mersch is a super BEAST.

Where did he come from? 8 pts on the US development team all of last year. Maybe some recruiting guru's can pass along some thoughts on what they thought of him over the last 3-4 years.

Goalie decision last night......I don't like rotations, but I thought Bennett deserved to get the start against the rodents.

The game was on the B11 network last night; how about some impartial announcers? Using rodent announcers was deplorable. And that color guy last night was100000000000000000000 times worse than Chorske was Friday.

It's all about being placed in the right spots. I didn't see Mersch last year but when I saw him on the U17 team he was one of the more impressive forwards on the team. It was clear that the groundwork was there for a physical power forward. That said, he's exceeded EVERYON'ES expectations at this point, probably even his own.

I didn't notice it at the game but apparently Zengerle injured his knee early in the game Saturday night. Needs rest but should be fine for UND.

When's the last time a freshmen won hobey or even been a canidate. Zengerle sure has potentail to be that, jk. But maybe in future years. Also not just because i'm a Badger fan (But partially) I say Smith and Murray should be looked at as Hobey canidates.

Wayyyy too early to be discussing Mr. Baker. Enjoy the 3 points from Minny and get ready for the mullet aficionado's from farther west this weekend.

I'd say we should dial it back on the hobey talk for anyone. reasons why

                            1. A hobey candidate should be someone who dominates games, or single-handedly can change outcomes of entire weekends ala a Dany Heatley; I wouldn't put any current badger there just yet. But the season is young so it's *possible*
                            2. think of how steeped in tradition UW is and the guys who didn't win hobey: Jim Carey, Mike Richter, CUJO, Bruce Driver, Gary Suter, Chris Chelios, Brian Rafalski, Tony Granato, Steve Reinprect, Gary Schuchuk, Scott Mellanby, Jason Zent, Dany Heatley, Joe Pavelski, Robbie Earl and on and on and on

we should be concerned w/victories first, then conference wins and points, and if they achieve enough of those and get on a roll, NATIONAL TITLE
Everything in its right place, Wisconsin Hockey National Champs!

"but you're not as confused as him are you. it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel". Tap pt 1.

"I think it's ****ing stock. What--? Which part of that is unclear to you? I think it sounds stock to my ears. I mean, do you want me to write it down?" Tap Pt. 2

                            Who???! So What!!!! Big Deal!!!!

I don't see a UND-Wisconsin thread, so I'll post here. Saw this weekends games with the rodents, and very impressed with Bucky's play. Be very pleased if my Sioux could escape with 2 pts. from a series they have typically struggled with. Good luck this weekend! Wish I could be in Madtown for what is always an enjoyable time.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.
