    Re: Greatest College Hockey Memories

#6 BC upsets #3 Dartmouth in 2006 in double OT to send them to the Women's Frozen Four. Remains my favorite sports moment ever I think.

Non-game memory - meeting Keith Magnuson and Bobby Orr before practice one day at the old DU Arena. The Black Hawks were in town to play the Rockies and Keith came by the old barn to see Murray Armstrong. He brought Bobby along for the ride. When Murray arrived he and Keith got into a lengthy conversation. As a result I had a nice 45 minute conversation with Bobby.

1976-1977 season, we made a road trip to see Merrimack play 2 @ Ohio State. 16 in a Winnebago (think Spicoli's van only bigger). Stopped in Canton at the Football Hall of Fame. Stayed in an incredible frat house. Waitress at Columbus bar couldn't understand what a "picha a beah" was. 'Mack lost both games (they were D2 then) but played them tough. OSU's rink was really bad back then. Warriors went on to beat Ned Harkness coached Union to win the ECAC D2 title that season, and I got to drink from the championship trophy.

The triple overtime game in the 2006 mid west regional final, between Wisconsin and Cornell, is my favorite college hockey memory.

One of my greatest college hockey moments came at the World Arena several seasons ago. It was the night of the bench clearing brawl between CC and UA-Anchorage. After the Tigers scored a game winning goal in overtime, a UA-A player bunch Matt Zaba in the head on his way to the celebration that was on the other end of the ice. Patrasso on the CC club, went after the player who punched Zaba and a full out brawl followed. Fights all over the ice. A total of 10 suspensions. Blood all over the ice. It was a great night at the World Arena; for weeks after the fight, people were showing all their friends how Brandon Straub hit Beagle with an upper cut thus ending the brawl.

i was at this one as well, and it was truly remarkable... i think my favorite memory from the game however was when maine scored their second goal to cut the lead to 7-2 in the third... i celebrated with a mocking exuberance that drew a roar of laughter from the surronding bc fans...

avoiding the obvious maine championships in 93 and 99, my favorite was the 2001 regional game between maine and minnesota. i was about ten rows back beind the minnesota net when maine scored with 2.7 seconds left and then won it in overtime... http://www.uscho.com/recaps/2001/03/...into-quarters/

it turned out to be shawn walsh's last victory before he passed, as maine lost the next evening to bc...

Wow! Reading through these has been a great trip down memory lane!
A couple of mine would have to be the 1995 FF semi-final when Maine beat Michigan in 3OT, Dan Shermerhorn potting the game-winner. Our goalie Alfie Michaud stood on his head that whole tournament, including stopping a clean breakaway in....the 1st ot, I think. Michigan's goalie in that game was a freshman by the name of Marty Turco.

The other, as gscott13 mentioned in the previous post was that Maine Minnesota game in the 2001 Regional. My stepson and I were in the balcony right behind the goal when Maine tied it with 2.7 seconds left and then won it in ot.

                    - Farkas going through the entire SLU team and scoring with a few mins left in regulation in the FF semis in Providence 2000.

                    - BC coming back from I think 4 goals down vs. Notre Dame in Conte somewhere between 1998 and 2001. Probably the loudest it's ever been since 1997-1998 for hockey games at least.

                    - Marty Hughes capping off a last minute comeback for BC (scored 3 straight goals) over UNH in Conte in 2000-2001 just before his mom passed away from cancer.

                    - Ben Eaves batting the puck out of midair in overtime in Manchester 2004 regional to beat Michigan.

                    - BC scoring 3 goals in under 3 minutes vs. Miami in Worcester in 2008 and then Whitney winning it in overtime.

                    - Talking about going back to back to SteveF the day of the 2007 title game vs. MSU. WHOOPS. To be fair they did win in 2008 like I predicted that day! 1 out of 2 isn't bad.
Good stuff! Saw them all, except for you and SteveF jinxing the Eagles.
I was sitting beside the goal judge in Manchester when Eaves scored, yapping at him for two periods to 'light the lamp". He high fived me on his way out after the goal.
