Fear not Doc, I don't think Seth has any intentions of making a grinder out of him (ONLY kidding) Seriously, I think he'll be given every opportunity to earn significant offensive responsibilities. The rest will be up to JL and his work ethic -- including his commitment to off-season conditioning.

McEneny's going (semi-)pro indicates that he was probably never really interested in us at all. I tend to believe (and this is just speculation) that we were probably very interested in Hayden and simply lost out to a school that is far superior academically and (sadly) athletically (at the present point in time).
Im not 100% sure but I think players cant make an official visit to a school until they are a senior in high school, so Haydens visit with Brunswick teammate Kevin Duane last season wasnt an official one. USHR says Hayden picked Yale because he wanted to remain close to home, his hometown of Greenwich is less then an hour away from New Haven.

As for McEneny, I believe he was visiting with Pat Koudys that night. Both were teammates for a little while last year in Burlington.

I don't think I have been properly appreciating the full extent of JL's dominance of JrA hockey. I had thought that his stats weren't much better than previous guys we've had (Oren Eizenman and Jon Ornelas come to mind) who took some time to adjust to NCAA hockey. However, looking back, his stats are far, far better than either of those guys (who played in very similar leagues).

I can see JL being one of RPI's top point producers next year, there might be a small adjustment period coming up from the CjHL level to college but I dont see that being to big a problem.

Perhaps the recruit is now playing for a different team? I don't recall any such visitor last year.

I'm happy to have underestimated his heighth. I will say that there were 4-5 kids on Berkshire who were taller than he was.

I certainly hope that he will be, but he may need time.

You raised an interesting, and probably valid, point, that JL getting a comparatively large percentage of his points at even strength is a plus.

Running away with the three-star points race (his goalie Karvouniaris is in second). Ideally this would indicate that he isn't ever disappearing from games. While we have some very nice young players currently (thinking Higgs, Rogic, O'Grady), clearly they are not currently to the point where they can be counted on to contribute SOMETHING in every game (ala Polacek, Brutlag [finally] who will be leaving after this year). I'd hope this means there is a great chance that JL can step right into Polacek's shoes and keep us from missing a beat on the top line, and the currently-inconsistent (but talented) guys can operate without as much pressure on them.

Perhaps the most encouraging thing is that the success of his teams has dramatically improved from year to year.
