Maybe it is just better if they never build anything in Maine ever again.......then the entire state can go on welfare and the Feds can pick up the tab.

I just don't see any good ideas out there.....and when something positive comes along.......it is shot down by those oh-so-positive Mainers with nothing better to do than complain........ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Money could grow on every tree in the state.....and Mainers would find some way to eff it up.

I agree that Bangor is just too much of a ya-can't-get-there-from-here destination...But I disagree with the notion that they would sell more tix than the 7-8K they sell in Albany, even if Maine was playing there.(Those packages cost,what,$80 for three games..?Casual fans just won't pony up that kind of dough in large numbers, especially in greater Bangor.)And,if Maine isn't in the NCAA's,a Bangor regional would be a total disaster,IMO.I doubt they could get 2,000 people to attend.

No way the NC$$ is gonna place a regional in north/central Maine. It just doesn't make cents.

You're right......it will NEVER happen. This new facility will only seat 5,800 and more importantly NOT HAVE ICE. So maybe all of this arena/NCAA Regional in Bangor talk just needs to die on this forum because it's all a moot point.

Regionals held in Albany never have 7-8k for there games, well 7-8k if you count the whole weekend...your lucky to get 4500 per game, and maybe 4800 IF Maine is there...I've been there before and the rink is empty...like alot of other Regional sites...you are right on the price part....between $25-$30 per day and say a $45 ticket for both days would put more fanny's in the rink....but the NCAA does not care about that or the Hockey part....imo. With that said, sounds more like hot-air coming out of that Bangor proposed Project..[again]..If there ever is going to be a Regional in Maine it will be in Portland...IF & When they would build a NEW Arena there....will that happen...go back to hot-air Bangor comment. So Maine Hockey fans get use to travling out of State to watch Maine in the NCAA's for a good time coming...

or they could just print it... naaah, nobody would would just print currency, can you imagine the long-term effects?

maybe they could loan the money to a corporation and then tell the corporation that they have to pay the money back, but the corporation did not have to pay its next $90 Billion in corporate taxes.... nahhh, can you imagine the long-term effects?

Actually, if it's built by the city of Bangor, it's the Bangor taxpayer who WILL be on the hook for making the payments on it. Hollywood Slots hasn't been generating enough revenue to the city to begin to pay for a big project like this. Even if you're right that they get table games at HS, we still don't know how much of a contribution to the city or to this project will result from that, especially if other casino's are approved in Maine in the future that take business away from HS. Lots of unknowns there, especially when you extend them to out to the duration of the mortgage. In 10 years, HS may be a full service casino, or just a hotel along the river with NO gambling, who knows? Ultimately, Bangor taxpayers know they will be responsible, with maybe a lot of help from Hollywood Slots, and maybe not so much help from Hollywood Slots. If it goes to referendum so the majority of voters determine this question, they will get their way and that means it won't be built. In either case, since there is no ice even in the plans, who cares?

Oh yeah......back when the paper and manuafacturing mills were going full throttle. That ain't happening again.......and according to the negative nellies, neither are new arenas, casinos, National Parks.......did I miss anything??? Looking forward to the next Super Wal-Mart or Dunkin Donuts I guess........

Why, because its going to create retail jobs like Wal Mart and Dunkin Donuts?

Because you have no valid argument is more like it. Besides I never said I was for or against it only that I thought the people of Bangor might be against it.
