I'm pretty sure every other non-scholly school in ECAC has something similar, so it really just evens the playing field.
I don't mind if Union is "creative" with its aid / grant packages, particularly with the way the ECAC is stacked against Union. As long as there are no violations then they should do whatever is allowable.

Yeah right union doesn't offer scholarships. And Cam Newton didn't get any money to go to Auburn. I got 1/3 "academic" scholarship to come play my sport, and Clarkson offered more! 83 average in high school, and I did not play hockey. Schools figure it out if they want someone. If Nate keeps doing a great jobs, good players will come.

I jokingly said on Saturday night that I was hoping for a Kyle Bodie hat trick so that he might get some attention for POTW. I guess he didn't need the 3rd goal.

Best rookie, goalie and scorer in ECAC in Brian Sullivan's opinion.

Any more of that and it may just get broken. I'm already enough in the basement on Rainman's contest, I don't need to go further.

While I'm very glad to see Kyle Bodie playing well and getting some props, and I think he has a very bright future, also want to point out that there is another Bodie on the team who is rather quietly having an outstanding season. In case anyone hasn't noticed, Mat Bodie now has 20 points in 22 games from the blueline and has been playing very well in the last month or so. Mat definitely was inconsistent the first couple months and was prone to way too many bad puck decisions, but he has looked much more relaxed and confident of late and seems to be a little more patient in letting the game come to him instead of forcing things. In many ways he has been U's best d-man of late. As much as I love Carr & Jooris, IMO M. Bodie is the best rookie on the team and I think very well could be in the ROY talk at the end of the season. He is absolutely one of the best skaters that I've ever seen at Union. He has incredible lateral mobility and acceleration, and skates with a real low center of gravity that makes him tough to knock down or take the puck away from. His stick skills are incredible too and he has a surprisingly hard shot. If he puts on a little more weight and muscle, he's pro potential.

ADK, I was actually going to post something last night about Mat Bodie which would have been in line with your observations but decided to call it an early night, zzzzzzzz. I think his first year season has been nothing short of remarkable especially when you take into account his being a D-man where mistakes are hard to hide. I only hope that being a bit undersized, he doesn't wear down toward the end of the season.

As far as this weekend, I think the standard road weekend goal of at least 2 points is attainable and critical to keep the move toward the top 4 in the standings viable. I hope and think the curse nonsense is just that, but this could be a "trap" game with Colgate if Union doesn't bring its hard work ethic to Starr. Colgate is a potentially explosive team with some very talented offensive players and they have lost a ton of one goal games. As far as Cornell is concerned, I don't care where they are in the standings, a win or tie in Lynah is always a difficult task. The returning players may have a little extra motivation after the way things ended in March at the TUC. I would be surprised if the team comes out flat for either game. I know they will be busing in today rather than staying over last night, so hopefully they will have time with the short trip to shake off the bus legs and jump on Colgate early. Go U!

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I'll take 2 points and run. Union just never seems to have a good full weekend out there. Even when they beat Cornell at Lynah a few years ago, they rebounded with a stinker in Hamilton the next night.

I'd like to think that this is their best chance to pull off a road sweep, but these environments are difficult for anyone, no matter how far down Colgate & Cornell are in the standings.

Nice game by Kinkaid and important points in the standings, but will need a much better effort tomorrow night in Ithaca.
