I have to agree with that. We've taken 2/2 from RoMo already, it's the couple we still have with Niagara we need to be concerned about. The farther back Niagara is the better.

That said, I think we've improved a lot as a team since we last faced them. That was early in the season.

Brenner's in the lineup so thankfully the injury wasn't too bad. GO TIGERS!

Another joke of an officiating job in the AHA tonight giving Mercyhurst every chance to come back.

It really feels like RIT's considered the big bully of the conference at this point. Seems like every night they're playing against both the other team and the officials.

                  Another frustrating tie.

RIT sat back way too much with the lead in the 3rd, particularly after they killed the 2nd of the 5 on 3's in the 3rd period.

Oh, please. Those were dumb penalties. We deserved pretty much every single one of them.

We fell apart; it was our game to lose, and boy did we try.

Uh, yeah. We pretty much are. I've been disgusted at times with cheapshots we've been taking, and the stupid dirty immature crap.

Bottom line: we didn't even deserve the tie tonight, in my opinion.

She wouldn't happen to be the one running over to the Crew and yelling in an all-too-high pitch, I hope :P

I don't agree at all. Mercyhurst was frankly the team that started gooning it up once the Tigers got up 3-1 by roughing up Favot along the boards. (Wilson even took a veiled shot at them in the post game interviews on TWCS), and the Tigers lost their discipline a bit. But they did not deserve to be two men short multiple times in that 3rd period. There were some ticky tack penalties to say the least.

Go back to the televised Army game and there was an early vicious charging/elbow to the head that went uncalled early and set the tone for that game as well.

The Tigers certainly did not play well tonight, and deserved to blow the lead, but it's incredibly frustrating to see some of the penalties that aren't called that are committed by opponents that are called on us.

The better team was wearing green last night; fortunately the better goalie was wearing orange. Lack of discipline led to too many stupid penalties.

I agree with the stupid penalties. Sure, defend your teammates but when you're up 3-1, the last thing you want to start is a penalty fest! It just gives the other team an oppurtunity to catch up, 1 goal at a time. By letting the Lakers get within one via multiple penalties, the door was openede to tie the game in the last minute.

This is something the Tigers will need to learn from if they want to get out of the AHA tourney and into the NCAA's.

Ellis is one of the least competant refs in the league. I'm not saying that RIT didn't deserve some of them, but there were some non-calls that were pretty baffling. A prime example is one on Breener for taking a shot at the Mercyhurst player who was holding his stick down. No call on the Laker, but there was a call on Brenner.

In general, I think this team is still learning to play with the bullseye that they have had all year for last year's team making the Frozen Four. That they are still 4 points up when there were some people who thought this may be a little bit of a rebuilding year with the losses from last years team.

I'm sorry, but 9 times out of 10, the retaliation will be seen and called by the ref. Not retaliating requires discipline.

Pay them back some other way - try to make their infraction obvious, finish all your checks hard, whatever. But retaliating is playing right into the hands of the other team. So much so that I'm surprised other teams don't use this as a strategy, because we fall for it every time. Are we out there to win the hockey game, or are we out there to win a childish ***-for-tat bullying game?

For those of you who watched the Caps/Penguins 24/7 - Bruce Boudreau used exactly this strategy against Evgeni Malkin. Something along the lines of "If you hit Sid, it won't knock him off his game. But if we finish our checks on Malkin, he's bound to take some stupid ****ing retaliation penalty sooner or later." And just a few shifts into the game, Malkin did exactly that.

Rochester has the worst refs around. But the guys did fall into that mercyhurst trap last night. push first and let RIT get caught when they push back. good game plan when you're down and need a spark.
