I'm not sure the game would of been any better with Jan in net. It's unfortunate but RIT just plays better in front of their no. 1 goalie and I'm really getting peeved by that since it has been going on for awhile now.

McReynolds has been one of my favorite players for awhile now and he has really matured over the years. He is probably one of the hardest working players on the team but is usually overlooked because of how physical he plays, tough guy/enforcer(borderline goon sometimes), but he has gotten better at not taking retaliating shots.

The good thing is that this was a non-conference game - and while it's a tough loss, I think RIT will come out of it for the better. I believe there are only 5 games left against teams with winning records. Take care of business in the conference and we will see what happens in the AHA tournament. This is a good team that should get to the BCA and once there - see what happens.

Ah, the voice of reason and wisdom!

You are absolutly correct. While it was a pretty horrible game for the short time I was able to listen to it during P2, I don't think it reflects the team that the Tigers can put on the ice. While every game is important, it's what RIT does in the AHA and at Blue Cross that matters. It would be great to see the rankings on Wednesday's and see RIT in the top 20 \ 25 or even garner points by beating a NC opponent but winning the AHA and the league championship is what really matters.

The team has come together over the last 10 games (except for last night) and have shown the type of team they are and will be in the play-offs.

Good goaltending and reducing needless penalties will go a long way towards RIT playing in the regionals again.

I thought Watson played a good game, making all the saves he should have made. It would have been nice if he'd stopped the shortie, but the other goals, IMO, could easily be credited to the team's overall problems on defense.....all night. Merrimack handled the puck better than anyone I've seen lately. However, despite the statistics, RIT was in the game until that shorthanded goal, and they truly took advantage of the few chances generated. You really couldn't say that on their trip to RPI/Union where, to disagree with WW, they played much worse. Perhaps they couldn't muster the emotion for MC that they had against RMU. I still see good things ahead.

Remember the Tigers stunk up the place when they played at Minnesota State last January, then followed it up with considerably better play. IIRC, Wilson said those games taught the team what they needed to do when they rolled in March and April. My biggest concern is the penalties. This team just racks up way too many. Can't give good teams that kind of advantage. Probably won't kill them the rest of the regular season, but could be a worry in the AHA tournament.

RIT tends to rack up more penalties against more physical teams. They respond and they get caught.

I think RIT is still in good shape. I figured RIT would do no worse than 10-5 in conference going into the RMU game. I pegged that as a loss and they won it. That obviously does not mean they won't lose a game that they shouldn't, but it is a good sign in conference.

He seemed to be the only Tiger who showed up for the full 60 minutes tonight, playing very well until his 1st period injury (with a goal and an excellent offensive chance immediately following), then coming back and playing his hard working, gritty brand of hockey after he returned for the 2nd.
I don't know how you can give an A to someone who gets himself escorted off the ice.

I thought the rest of the team played much better than D-quality against a team that's larger by about two inches and twenty pounds on average. Merrimack is bigger, stronger, and faster, and there's not much you can do to look good against that kind of physical prowess.

That said, I thought Merrimack was mailing it in until midway through the second. Until that point, they were taking mostly slapshots -- very hard slapshots, mind you, but nothing Watson and the defense couldn't handle. It was only when they started moving the puck around down low and getting in close to pick up rebounds that they started scoring.

McReynolds had a nice goal as well. I thought he had a good game - that penalty not withstanding.

All in all, Merrimack dominated that game. I hope the team is not happy about what happened and takes it out on Army this weekend.

Not sure how the AHA pucks are, but most Hockey East pucks have the school logo on one side and the conference logo on the other side. I'm not into puck collecting, but I've been to enough games over the years that I've caught a few and/or seen a few pictures from when a player records his first collegiate goal, 100th point, etc.

AHA is the same way, I have current RIT official game pucks. This is pre-division 1 days for RIT, if it was ever and official puck and not a knockoff

I have one like that sitting in my office that I picked up in the bookstore. I would guess late '80s or early '90s. I don't know if that design was ever used in games, but my guess would be that it wasn't.

For RPI, there is no ECAC logo on the reverse. Engineers Hockey logo on the obverse. I don't know about any of the other teams in the ECAC.

Can somebody please explain how Robert Morris keeps getting votes in the polls but RIT is nowhere to be found?

They've lost to the Tigers twice and only have two more wins vs RIT in the overall standings.

If the polls are based soley on OC games, would it make more sense to just have four weeks of OC games and then seed everybody for the tournements before winter break?

The lone Army puck I saw which came off the ice I think had the AHA logo and Army's logo on it but the ones from the rink store only had the Army logo on it.
