  • Re: ECAC Pick The Standings 2010-11

Congrats to the Union Dutchmen on their first ever Cleary Cup and congrats to Go Puckman for his first ECAC Pick The Standings Championship. The RPI fans showed off their prognostication powers by taking the top 4 positions in the contest and 2 SLU fans (UGH) finish in the top ten. The Random Number had one of its highest finishes at 60th. The Fan Average end up 38th. Sgt12 is our bottom winner and finally Dr Demento's has defeated JennyRN. Yours truly ended up picking the most teams correctly in their final position with 5 but unfortunately missed by a mile on Colgate, Dartmouth and Princeton. Nine contestants picked correctly 4 teams and a total of 22 contestants picked 0 correctly. Our winner only picked 1 team, Cornell, correctly in it's position but missed by no more than 3 positions on the rest of the 11 teams and missed by only 1 on 5 teams. Colgate naturally cost most contestants the most points. I have included a table showing the average number of points each team cost our contestants as well as the final standings. Thanks for playing and get your picks into the annual ECAC PICK THE PLAYOFFS 2011 Edition .

I correctly picked Union 1st, Yale 2nd, and SLU 11th. I had another 5 teams within 1 spot of where they finished. Naturally Colgate cost me the most. But hey -- I tied with the Fan Average

I'm suspicious that those RPI fans used some sort of engineering technical wizardry with a Cray Supercomputer to solidify their prognostications. Congats to them on their picks as well as a good season with hopefully more to come. As to we two SLU guys finishing in the Top 10 (I'm beginning to think Tim and I were brothers separated at birth as we think so much alike) isn't that our lot in life???? Creating senators, TV executives, titans of industry, Wall Street tycoons, NHL coaches and GM's and finishing high in this contest.... but putting a team on the ice that finished 11th!!!!!!!! Now that Vic is a real reason to say "UGH"!!! What a horrible year for the Saints. Thanks as always for the work you do to put these contests together and good luck to everyone in the playoffs.

Listen brother, your correct picks of a few teams doesn't make up for the disaster in Hamilton. Who knew?

We tied in the contest, but this in no way takes away from the hurt of a failed season.
