  • Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

I cannot say how fantastic the OOC was this year; not because we won them, but because they were programs with very good talent, coaching, etc. In effect, they were teams that we would face in the NCAA Tourney. I can't think of anything more we could ask for from the scheduling team. With respect to the conference schedule, I'm not expecting this sub-par execution of Michigan and ND to be more than a 1 year aberration. The coaching and talent there are just too good for this to be the rule rather than the exception. So I really expect the SOS to be very good next year (hope i'm not getting ahead of myself).
    Long live the "Brotherhood"!!!!!

Giving up a home run in Great American Ballpark is kind of like walking into a chocolate factory and yelling "I WANNA BE FAT!!!"

It's going to happen. Just give it time.....and a little effort.

And, they aren't out of it yet. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if either made a run and won the CCHA tournament, but I just haven't seen signs of it...yet. Look at MSU this year. Down year last year, but right back fighting for a top finish this year. I also expect the same from ND and U-M.

I wish Western all the best in finding a new coach (as long as they aren't poaching our coaches, lol). The better that all of the teams in the CCHA, the better Miami will be. To be honest, I'm surprised it took them this long to make a change. Even the Detroit Lions make coaching changes more frequently than Western and BGSU.

An absolutely perfect example! With as many problems as MSU had last year, I wasn't sure what to expect from the Spartans this time round. And I would argue their program wasn't quite on par with UM or ND. So I have no doubt those programs will rebound with a vengeance - at least offensively (both need a little help in the pipes).

DU's SOS will get vastly easier with Tech and Anchorage but then they'll pick up some points in the WCHA tourney.

I'm not worried about being tested. It's the same team that ran through the tournament last year and, if the season ended today, will have played 9 teams in the top 25 of the RPI.

In contrast, DU and Wisconsin will have played 8 of those teams so it's about even.
Watch out on trying to talk sense about schedules, some people don't take kindly to facts on here.

Off topic, but this Hoser-SwissMiss game is turning out to be the best game of the Olympics thus far. 2-2 at 15:00 in the 3rd. Hilller for Switzerland has played out of his friggin' mind since the end of the 1st. He has absolutely baffled the Canadian forwards.

And I'm sure someone else on here is watchin the Canada/Swiss game, how clutch has Hiller been. A lot of great saves to keep this tied at 2.

Anchorage actually isn't a cake walk, they have played well this year and knocked off some of the big boys including Denver once already.

If Canada misses out on this pwer play, they don't deserve to win.

Boyle has played extremely well in these games. Just said Hiller has made 42 saves in the game tonight.

on the topic of Western, I would be willing to bet that Coach Brekke is high on their list because of his succes at cornell and Miami but also because of him being an alum and being familiar with the program. Although Culhane was an alum too so they may try and go outside the "family" so to speak. It will be interesting but wouldn't surprise me at all to see him get the job.
