The Miami USHL team did pretty well last night also...
    http://www.pointstreak.com/stats/pro...gameid=1048787
Miami with 3 of the 6 goals (Bersch, Paulazzo, Wideman), and 3 assists.

The Fin with a 2 goal game also.

I realize that this might be preaching to the choir here, but I am flabbergasted that Cody isn't getting any hype for the Hobey. I realize that I'm a little...ok a lot... biased. However, allow me to bloviate a bit.

Consider his stats and national rank:
      GGA: 1.42 (1ST)
      SV%: .934 (1ST)
Shutouts: 4 (2nd) ***only man with more, has a GGA over 2.00

I suppose the drawback to his case is that he doesn't play everyday. But I don't see how you can hold that against the kid. He's still playing in nearly 60% of the minutes, and the guy backing him up is nearly (if not just as) good. I'm not saying he's the best player in the country, but to have not considered him is absolutely asinine!

      Thank you for your attention.

      Long live the "Brotherhood"!!!!!

Giving up a home run in Great American Ballpark is kind of like walking into a chocolate factory and yelling "I WANNA BE FAT!!!"

It's going to happen. Just give it time.....and a little effort.

Well not to knit pick but the list that came out was preliminary and not the final 10. No one knows who the final 10 are or what not but I wouldn't raise any stink about Cody and the hobey until that list comes out. With that said, its highly likely he will be on the final 10 hobey list.

The obstruction initiative was abandon and replaced by the standard of play initiative which broadens the obstruction rule. Wasn't too much clutching and grabbing for a college game. At this high of a level there is always some type of obstruction but things have to fit under a certain criteria. Can't be knit picky out there guys, they are all big boys and have to fit throgh all of that and win battles its simple as that.

Tied at 1 currently late in the third and am amazed, but not shocked, at how well Gil is playing. The eye test for this game is about 5 or 6 to 1 in favor for Miami by Gil has not allowed much and is playing extremely well. Just like a lot of other series a hot goaltender can carry a team and you are seeing it tonight. Miami is playing extremely well firing over 45 shots on net with about half being quality shots which is key he is just making unbelieveable saves. And as I am typing this Miele with a rocket on the PP, there were bound to score there.

Dominating game today on the ice, not so much on the score sheet though. We said all week that Gill was a stud in net, and he really showed that this weekend. At times today it looked like we were playing against a house pee wee team, the way we were able to control possession for nearly the entire first period and impose our will. VAIVE had some huge hits all weekend, and some great looks on net and set ups, nice to see. That Reilly/Palmer/Miele line is dangerously good. Even Mantha/Mason/VAIVE did well, love that we can roll 4 against teams.

Hard to believe that we have not lost a single CCHA game in regulation this season, and even then we have the lone loss to Mich State in overtime. Keep it up boys, controlling our own destiny.

Well the CCHA is the only conference that doesn't have a tight race lol. Miami sweeps Lake st this weekend they clinch regular season champs!

Lake st. needs these two games big time as their is only 4 pts seperating 4-10 . I would suspect the boys will be ready to go knowing they can clinch for 1, but secondly wanting to stay sharp and on a roll but they will get Lake st.'s best shot this weekend.

Interesting line up last night, both freshmen Mantha and Mason in the line up and Spinnell in for schilling. Don't mind giving cam and night off, and the 4th line played with some spark.

A little surprised about Schilling. Hope he is healthy. Recall our speculation about the seven d and the "odd man out." It seems to be being rotated either by design or minor (I hope) injuries.

Sort of a "whew!" with the Miele goal. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. Yes, Western was outskilled but they battled and played hard with their goalie giving them a chance. Gill played great both nights, I thought.

Ok on to next Friday night.

By the way, it looks like RMU's win over Bemidji flipped the pairwise comparison with a COP change between Miami and Bemidji. Miami currently has all 24 pairwises (is that a word?) in the top 25. At least for now, thanks RMU.

I saw that. I was surprised that did it. I was thinking another RMU win over them would be needed, but I guess that's not the case.

Count me among those that are concerned about Schilling. I didn't notice if he left Friday's game early or not. Or, perhaps Rico's just adding in some rest down the stretch which makes all the sense in the world.

We've debated this time and again, but is there a point at which he'll go strictly with Cody or do you try to keep both healthy, sharp and fresh down the stretch?

Looking ahead a few weeks to our final regular season game @ OSU, the Columbus Alumni Chapter is again organizing a Miami section for the game. Tickets are $7 and include a pregame Miami reception at Buffalo Wild Wings with appetizers and wings provided. All the details and ordering info is here.

Great weekend of hockey and glad I had a chance to make it down to Oxford for the Saturday game. Looking forward to making both games this coming weekend. Go Hawks!
Love and honor to Miami forever and a day. Go RedHawks!

Well there is more than just that opponent that falls under the COP which is why it only took that one to do it. I would imagine it was the fact that we have 2 wins over OSU and OSU beat bemidji.

As for Schilling, he was on the ice to end the game friday so I am chalking it up to just giving him a day off and playing the two freshmen together. In all Miami had 6 freshmen on the ice in last nights game.

I would imagine at some point you have to go with one guy, with the way things have gone I don't think he does that until the CCHA playoffs. Until then he will get Connor as many minutes as he can to keep him fresh and continue his development. This is a big weekend for Miami, you sweep here you win conference regular season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cody both nights, but Connor has played extremely well in his last couple starts. Can't go wrong with either direction which is a great problem to have.

I don't think we can technically clinch until at least the BG series unless Ferris is swept this weekend and MSU loses one. Based on JD's numbers...

Miami - 8 games remaining - 75 max points (currently at 51 points)
                                Ferris - 8 games remaining - 63 max points
                                MSU - 6 games remaining - 59 max points
                                UAF - 6 games remaining - 59 max points

To get to 63 points, we obviously need four wins but of course the number assumes that Ferris and MSU win every night. It looks like if we sweep Lake, Ferris is swept by NMU and MSU splits, we would clinch this weekend.
