Regarding Gill, I saw him live and in person during the 1-1 tie/shootout win in Kalamazoo earlier this year when he nearly stole that game for Western. At the least, he stole a point and made several head-shaking saves. He is very solid and we'll need to do more than just settle for wristers and throwing pucks to the net to be successful. We'll need to create traffic, move our feet and the puck, and get Gill moving side to side. I've been critical of our lack of fundamentals in this sense over the years and we still fall into this problem from time to time.

Well there is nothing wrong with wristers and throwing the puck at the net as long as you have traffic or have guys going hard to the net for rebounds. But when you have no one in front and he see's the save it isn't doing any good. A lot can happen when you have traffic in front and just throw the puck towards the net. The more bodies there the crazier things can happen.

Agreed. It's the latter that we sometimes don't do a great job with because we put pucks on net with the best of them.

It was good though I wasn't able to find a Frozen Four betting slip but I didn't have too much time to look (I saw one last year when I was out there). On a whim I put $40 on the Oilers to beat the Canucks that would have paid $68, and it almost paid off, but Vancouver came back to beat them in OT that night. Bummer.

Weather was awful...40 degrees and rain most of the week. Lots of flooding. They got about 3 inches of rain which is pretty much the entire year's rainfall so it just didn't have anywhere to go.

That just means more time in the casino drinking for free.. . I know there is someone, not sure if it is out yet. I had a buddy out there, well he was in reno around mid march for spring break and saw the odds. They had Miami at 30-1, told him he should of put 10 down but was a longer shot than that. BU was at about 3-1 last year at that point. Would be interesting to see the vegas odds though, bet they aren't putting Miami at 30-1 this year lol.

Recruit update everyone:

Max Cook seems to have figured it out in his third year of juniors. Second on Indiana in scoring with 11g 18a and a +10.

Shane Berschbach is third on the team in scoring with 10g and 17a in only 30 gp. He is 17 pts short of his performance from last year but he has played 5 games less than most this season.

Alex Wideman is still trying to figure it out it seems with 6g and 3a in 34 gp. Only time will tell how he progresses.

Cody Murphy- Boy this kid is puzzling, he has played 34 games and only has 6g and 1a going to have to see him play to really get a gage but he hasn't done much at all in juniors.

Jimmy Mullen- what can you say about this kid, at every level he tears it up. Currently leading the best prep team in the country with 52 pts. 24 g and 28 a. Really looking forward to watching him in oxford in the fall.

Alex Gacek is always tearing it up. leading the NH Monarchs, who is leading their division and second in the league record wise, with 25g 24a. More importantly, IMO, he has 9 PPG and 11 PPA including 1 SHG and 5 GWG those are big numbers in a very good league for someone who hasn't seen their 17th birthday yet.

Things still looking bright in oxford with the talent coming in.

TWO MORE ICEMEN FLY EAST TO THE REDHAWKS NEST

INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Ice announced today that forwards Bryon Paulazzo and Blake Coleman made their future college intentions known this week as the Indy pair will play hockey for Miami (OH) University in the future.

With these two announcements, the Miami pipeline grows larger as the duo will join teammates Shane Berschbach, Max Cook and Alex Wideman in Oxford, OH. The RedHawks have enjoyed their recent Ice alumni as goaltender Cody Reichard and defensemen Joe Hartman and Cameron Schilling are playing major roles on the nation’s #6 ranked team.

Paulazzo just played in the USHL All-Star Game yesterday and is the Ice’s leading scorer at the All-Star break with 30 points (10G, 20A) and a (+19) plus/minus. Coleman has played 11 games in Indy after arriving in a trade from Tri-City in mid-December and has posted three goals and two assists.

The RedHawks have enjoyed their recent Ice alumni as goaltender Cody Reichard and defensemen Joe Hartman and Cameron Schilling are playing major roles on the nation’s #6 ranked team.

The nation's #6 ranked team (Bemidji/Yale)? I thought they played for the #1 ranked team!

Saw both Paulazzo and Coleman play in December. I believe it was Coleman's first game after being traded to Indy. Both these guys are nice complements in size and style to some of the other forwards coming in. That night Coleman was playing with a new team, but he had good jump and was very physical. Of course assuming they are both '10s (Paulazzo is already 20), I am wondering about the numbers game (who is not coming, leaving).

Well that story had to of just broke as I was on there last night and it wasnt up.

anyways, this is a head scratcher with Paulazzo having to come now, that would bring the incoming class to 6. Tiesling is done before he had a chance, which isn't a loss in my mind. But I think this bodes more to my suspicion I raised a few months ago that someone is leaving early. There isn't enough room for even 4 of these guys to fit into the line up. Wideman and Mullin and Berschbach are going to play right away, I would suspect Murphy would have a hard time cracking the line up but what about the other two? Not losing enough players to graduation. Your losing palmer, steffes, B. Smith, hetland and only 2 starters. I would suspect either mason or mantha are transfering. Someone would have to redshirt to make this work wouldnt they or am I missing something?

I still don't see that as a sign that someone is leaving early, those players all aren't necessarily coming into Oxford this fall. Last season Bersch signed his NLI and he was pushed back a season. I can see the same holding true again since most of these guys are still very young and we lose a lot when these Juniors take off.

The only player that "has" to come in is Paulazzo. Everyone else could still get another year technically. Maybe Mullin gets bumped a year so him, Gacek, and Biggs can be classmates? I think we see Bersch, Cook, Paulazzo, and either Mullin or Coleman. Mullin is playing against great clubs, and may be ready to step into the lineup, but lets see how he does in the USHL and get another year of free experience.

You're missing something, but let's not go there now, rhm. I have no idea about this, but I could see Murphy, Wideman, and Mullin delaying a year. Then the numbers are about right. Loupee graduated last year, so at least we don't have him to replace. I think you mean Hetland. Doubt anyone could/would redshirt because of not playing for a year. Better to stay in juniors and get some credits on the side.

I still don't see that as a sign that someone is leaving early, those players all aren't necessarily coming into Oxford this fall. Last season Bersch signed his NLI and he was pushed back a season. I can see the same holding true again since most of these guys are still very young and we lose a lot when these Juniors take off.

Berschbach signed his NLI this year, he committed last year. Unless something has changed you don't sign your NLI until the year you attend the university. Thats how it was when I went through the process and signed one, but the NLI's are given to those who are attending the next school year. Which is why they have a national signing day, so those 5 who signed should be here in the fall unless they opt out and go somewhere else. Which is why Murphy and Cook didn't sign until this year when they committed two years ago. The class stands at 6 right now for the fall, so there is a numbers problem.
