Of course the same team that allowed the goonery from Jack Johnson would resort to trying to injure more players just because they were losing. Watched the highlights, that place was fairly loud when we scored, sounds like there was a decent amount of Miami support at the Yost.

8-1-1 in the first 10? Nobody thought we'd be there. Keep it up boys, I'd assume we see Knapp in this weekend as long as we stop hanging him out to dry. Gotta keep him fresh and Ferris at home is a good opportunity to do so. They've had our number the past 2 seasons but I don't see any of that happening this year. The 7-3-0 record the Bulldogs boast is very inflated (Canisius, UConn, BG, UAF, Robert Morris). Those teams have a record of 14-26-2, and thats only that good because of a certain school that has yet to play outside of Alaska this season.
    Great post. Agreed on all.

Regardless on who they have played Ferris will be a test this weekend. As Bill Parcel would say you are what your record is and 7-3 is solid. I think we see Knapp as well, Coach did say that Connor would get another opportunity when the time was right. This weekend will be more of a mental test for Miami, they do have superior talent but can they focus enough to take care of business. After the tough 10 game stretch we will truly see what this team is made of, IMO, with this weekend series the first one in which they should sweep both games.

According to the Western Blog, USA wins the World Junior A Challenge against Belarus, Sweden, Russia, Canada West, Canada East. Two Americans on the all tourney team and Shane Berschbach is one of them. Mac Bennett (headed to Michigan) is the other Yank on the all tourney team. American entry is made up of USHL All Stars. Congrats to Shane on the gold medal and all tourney honors.

Nice find, and great to hear.

Boy I hope he comes in and lives up to what he has done in juniors, because I have a feeling from watching the little I have of him that he can be a special player.

And, we will need him with the upcoming departures of Camper, Wingels, Cannone, Steffes and Palmer over the next season and a half.

Very true, but I think looking at things over the next couple seasons there will be guys here to step in and produce like those guys have. With McKenzie and R. Smith playing well as freshmen and the addition of Berschbach and Widemen next season and Mullin and Gacek the year after that I think the future is still bright with talented forwards to step in and produce. Even with it being tough to see those talented players go, I am hoping that the next guy in line approach will be a trend for years to come.

Quick alumni update: Andy Greene logged almost 28 minutes for the Devils over the weekend and had a 29 minute game a while back--his minutes sure have increased. Dan Boyle has 16 points in 18 games for the Sharks--that's a lot for a d man.

Lemaire has been incredibly complimentary of Greene's play when Oduya and Martin went down.

Jonesy has been getting some decent PT at times this year as well. Also Derek Edwardson is tearing up the German league, for what its worth.

Alec Martinez is up with the big club too I believe, anyone see him play yet?

In regards to practice time and when you are allowed to first hold your practice, why in Hockey is it only a week-week and a half before your first game? When you look at other sports at the collegiate level they got much more time to prepare for the season. For instance Basketball is starting up ( which is why I started thinking about this ) and they will have atleast 3 weeks of practice before they play their first games. Football gets nearly a month, and baseball gets 2 weeks in the fall and atleast two after winter break. So why is hockey different? Why does hockey get such a short start up time to prepare?
Didn't get any response to this, not sure if no one cares or no one saw it but I thought I would give it a bump and see if I could get a response.

Well RHM, here's some good news for you... No more worrying about Cook, he signed his NLI today. It looks like the '10 class is Berscbach, Little Wideman, Murphy, Cook, and SSM's leading scorer Jimmy Mullin.

Last I heard, Jones was with Milwaukee and Martinez hasn't played since getting injured on opening night.

Mullin's is coming next year....not a good sign. For me that indicates that someone is leaving early to me.

First 8 games was with the big club, and got some decent minutes. Surprised he got sent down, hopefully he can work his way back.
