on a side note, those people on the series thread from UNH are really slow lol.

Calling this series meaningless because its october and its how you finish, which is true but if you lay and egg early you have a long way to come back. They must not understand the PWR.

Oh and JD love the support bud, think its hilarious the guy called me an idiot because I said we are young and they play more upperclassmen than we do lol nice work!

FWIW, I have no idea why you went off on that guy calling his statement, ignorant. That was pretty shocking, actually. But enough decorum...

Whenever you go to a top program's building, I think a sweep is probably a reach. Add that UNH plays on the big surface (though we have recent success at Mariucci to say that maybe it doesn't bother us that much) and I have to agree with you RHM, a split would be acceptable. That said, this UNH team might not be as good as previous installments so you kind of maybe need a sweep to avoid a "bad loss" when you look back. I think all that guy was saying was that an early season game might not be an indication of what a team will be like at the end of the year. I don't think he was saying it was meaningless, because, again, if we sweep, and later UNH tears it up and becomes a good team, we obviously get a huge lift in PWR if they for instance became a TUC. If they tank this year, we still need the W's to help us and not be penalized for losing to a bad team - mainly in the area of perception.

      I'm rambling.

In short, I'd love a sweep, we probably should sweep, but I'll settle for a split. From what I've heard, their fans are pretty vulgar so should be an eye-opener for the young Hawks!

Well I felt it was ignorant to call this series "almost meaningless" because its october. This is a very meaningful series when you have a limit number of OOC games to play and make a statement for PWR purposes. And what you said at the end of your first paragraph is why this isn't a meaningless series. Miami and UNH need the wins. For one of two reasons. 1. If the other is really good and you win it helps your PWR tremendously. 2. If you loose and are in the hunt and the other isn't good it hurts you tremendously in the PWR.

But Im with you, I will be happy for a split. Its a program with a historic past and may be down this year but you can't bank on that. They will be playing teams that we will be battling with for potential NCAA spots. Wins matter and you need them.

On another note, apparently Miami has impressed a lot of people around the country because they have been moved to #1 in every poll this week. It is early but nice to see the respect this team has earned. Everyone will bring their "A" game at them now.

Ha, well the student section may be a little rowdy and vulgar, just like Miami's, and again just like ours they're mostly held towards the end of the ice. It's actually a pretty family friendly crowd in the middle, very much like Miami's. The middle sections are always filled up with lots of families and little kids.

So the chants of " break there **** legs" or " O-R-G-Y spells ORGY" or " Skate on his **** head" don't echo throughout the arena like in goggin? lol

I've attended every UNH home game for the last 5 seasons and haven't heard of the first or third chants you mentioned. There is an orgy-themed chant during UNH penalty kills, however. I wouldn't describe the crowd as "vulgar," as you won't hear any f-bombs coming from UNH chants.
Should be a fun weekend, I expect(and hope) UNH gives you guys more of a challenge than you are predicting here. Safe travels to those making the trip up and hope you all enjoy the beautiful foliage of New England.

What? No "Hey ref, get off your knees, you're blowing the game" chants? Ha. Yea in terms of class age we're gonna be younger than most of our oppenents, but thankfully our young guys got big time experience last season and most of them have contributed since their freshmen year, its not as if we're finally expecting them to produce when they become upperclassmen, they get thrown to the wolves and usually do pretty well.

Those chants echo throughout Goggin. Wouldn't know about the Whit, but I had just heard there was some groundswell of support to crack down on vulgarity so figured there might be flying F-bombs or something.

Those chants I referenced are ones you will hear from the Miami students, so Im thankful you guys or other teams don't do them. They are, IMO, kind of ridiculous.

Well I think its some of that and the fact that they are just recruiting more talented players that are able to step in right away. When you look at other top programs like UND, Mich, BU, BC, DU, and ND they all get contribution from freshmen because they are good players. So there is no hesitation to play freshmen right away whereas some of the other programs not mentioned can't benefit from that because their guys just aren't ready to play or they do play but they don't have success.

So class wise we are younger, and there is still a lot of room for these guys to improve. So our young players do have a good amount of game experience. But it isn't our fault this coaching staff does a great job at recruiting and we just have better players.

Yeah, the Whit isn't really vulgar, but it's not exactly tame either. Very similar to Goggin. They both do all the spelled-out chants.

Started a new blog with three beer league buddies of mine at http://jacketsrequired.blogspot.com and I'll be posting my preview of the UNH series shortly. We're going to have fun with this thing. My three pals will probably blog mainly about the CBJ but I'll pretty much post college hockey stuff all the time.

Hoping for a split this weekend.
