Boston College - In. 4-7. Looking to be the 1 seed in Worcester.
North Dakota - In. 4-7. Can still be a 1 seed, looking like a 2.
St. Cloud - In. 4-9. Can be a 1 seed if they win the WCHA title, or win the third place game.
Bemidji State - In. 2 seed.

Cornell - Not in. Can get as high as 6 overall or miss the tournament completely. Looking like the 3 seed in Albany.
Ferris State - Not in. Can get as high as 6 overall or miss the tournament completely.
Yale - Not in, but very close.
UMD - Not in. 2 wins at the F5 will do it; that means they MUST win the play-in game vs North Dakota.
NMU - Not in, but can advance even with 2 losses at the Joe.
Alaska - Not in, but close. Need there to be less than 3 "autobid" winners. They are Miami, BC and Cornell fans this weekend.
Vermont - Not in, but close. Can still be a 2 seed if they win HEA.
New Hampshire - Not in, but close. More Miami, BC and Cornell fans.

Italics are teams that are no longer playing.

At least one of these bubble teams will be knocked out. UMD is my bet. Vermont is second.

Huntsville and the AHA Champion are autobids and in the field.

Everyone else is an autobid or nothing.
Just wondering what scenario has BC as a 7? The worst I could get them is as a 6.

Agreed. But I think they should do away with Consolations games, rather than implement them in all the leagues.

I also like the HEs way of doing the post-season. Making the regular worth something, by eliminating the worst two teams. Wish the post season conference touraments became somewhat consistant.

I just want to see NMU make the Tourny...thats why Im cheering for no more upsets. If Northern falls on their face again in Detroit there is still a chance for them to make it, so minimal upsets across the board.

And yeah, even if UNH makes it...its not like they will win the whole thing

The WCHA will eliminate it next year as part of a move to a 12 team conference (or, at least that is the focus of the discussion for a "new" Final Five). The new format, still under discussion, would be two play-in's on Thu., two Semi's on Fri. and a Championship on Sat. The Final "Five" would then refer to five "games" rather than five "teams."

like i said... i don't claim to be the authority...

do you have the final rpi for that year? all i could find was the 3/17/07 on slack.net which had the following (not sure if it is final)

            STL - .5384
            Massachusetts - .5328
            Maine - .5306

if those are in fact, the season ending rpis, i wonder if they took liberties in seeding in this instance, as all three teams were in the field... if they were all tied for the last spot in the tournament i wonder if it would have played out differently

What if it comes down to two teams tied at 14th for the last spot in the tournament?

Like would they still take team 1 if this were the case? Like to decide who gets in the tourny, not just seeding?

Re: Bracketology and the PairWise Rankings II

On the predictor I just came up with a scenario to get Michigan State in with a 14th ranking in the pwr. RIT 15th and Alabama-Huntsville 16th.

Has anyone else been able to accomplish this?

                  My 1st thru 14th.

                  1. Denver
                  2. Miami
                  3. Wisconsin

I also couldn't get BC below a 6, but came across a scenario where they finished 7. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was Vermont over BC, Cornell and St. Cloud winning the WCHA. That knocked them down to 7.

Judging from the past, it would be straight RPI. Team 1 would get in.

I plugged in an upset in ever round of the conference tournaments (with the lower seed winning every game, except for the NMU-Ferris game and the NMU-Miami 3rd place game), even the 3rd place games.

If that happens (and there's no way every single game will be an upset with the lower seed winning) then NMU will be the last team out (basically 17th with Canisius taking the 14th spot, Brown 15th and Alabama Hunstville 16th).

With that being said, I like our chances of making the tourney, even as the last team in.

I've been playing with it for about 30 minutes trying to find a scenario where NMU doesn't make it and I was only able to find scenario so far. On one of clicks through it had MSU with the 14th slot and I didn't write down who I had the winners being.

Ahhh yeah maybe. I remeber Cornell getting up to 7 with BC winning so I assume they would be able to do that with BC losing their first game too.
