Atlantic Hockey Pick the Standings Contest 2024-25 (TUPD 2nd Edition)

I am not quite on time this year, but it should work out just fine.

YOU ALL READY TO PLAY AGAIN AND TRY TO UNSEAT TUPD? OR WILL TUPD DELIVER THE THREE PEAT?

You will have until Saturday, October 19th, at 6:59PM EST to get your picks in. Two conference games will occur before that, but just use those games to give yourself more information.

TalonsUpPuckDown (TUPD) was our human winner from the 2023-24 season with a final score of 54. He is a repeat winner. Who can unseat him?

The teams really followed a pattern from the previous year and "Last Year Results" was the number 1 static/poll/automated winner with a score of 44.

Here is how it will work. The following is plagiarized:

Pick the Atlantic Hockey Standings at the end of the 2024-25 season in order from 1-11 (no ties). Playoff seedings determine the position of the teams in case of a regular season tie.

Scoring is as follows: You will receive a score based on the square of the distance from your picks to the actual standings (e.g., if you pick a team in 4th but they finish in 7th, you get (7-4)2 or 9 points). Sum those up for the eleven Atlantic Hockey teams and you'll have a score between 0 and 440. The entrant with the lowest score will be our winner.

As a reminder, you have until Saturday, October 19th, at 6:59PM EST, just before the Army v. Holy Cross game, to get your picks in.

Tie breakers are:

Pick correctly the Atlantic Hockey Regular Season Champ.
Have the most teams in the correct order of finish.
Have the most top 6 teams in the correct order of finish.
I will flip a coin.

You can change your picks at any time up till the drop of the puck on October 19th, however DO NOT EDIT THE ORIGINAL PICKS. Just put up a new post with your change.

I'm back to "defend" even though last year's actuall winner was an AI bot.

1) RIT - Convince me that Wayne and Hillsy still don't have it.
2) Sacred Heart - I've read the press clippings, my money's still on Wayne.
3) AIC - Lange isn't washed up.
4) Holy Cross - Their AD comes from the Bowling Green athletic dept. That's gotta be worth something.
5) Bentley - From one Falcon fan to another.
6) Air Force - I always find myself overselling a Serratore-coached team. Same for this year. Probably a mistake.
7) Niagara - The Purple Eagles will make me regret not placing them in the 5-spot. Mark that down.
8) Mercyhurst - Just saw them play 2. Hot goaltending. Considered placing them at 7.
9) Canisius - Struggled here. Not sure what they have.
10) Army - Um, not sure what to say here. Soldier on, boys!
11) Bobby Mo - Year 2. Still in rebuild mode.

Hockey East fan, don't know a ton about most AHA teams but figured why not give it a shot:

1. Sacred Heart (Coaches' poll has got to mean something... doesn't it?
2. Holy Cross (Seems like Gale is very good, and the rest of the team is solid)
3. RIT (Everyone seems to be saying the portal hit them pretty hard)
4. AIC (Don't know much about them, but most have them somewhere second-fourth)
5. Bentley (UML alum, so will put Andy Jones in the top half)
6. Air Force (Showed a lot of character coming back to split against ASU)
7. Niagara (Don't know much about this team)
8. Mercyhurst (Not too encouraged by the 0-2 start)
9. Canisius (Also 0-2 and bigger goal differential)
10. Robert Morris (Think Army might struggle in a "lame duck" year for Riley)
