Originally posted by Sparkee View PostI read this today in the preview of the game on goblackbears.com “Current Maine assistant coach Alfie Michaud had seven career wins against UNH, including a stretch of five-straight beginning with a Feb. 1, 1998 win and stretching to the April 3, 1999 National Championship, 3-2, overtime win at Arrowhead Pond.” I question if this is true because I remember UNH swept Maine at Whitemore that year at the end of the regular season. Maybe he didn’t play in that series at UNH? Morrison played in 11 games that year, but I doubt he would have played in that UNH series to close the season unless Alfie was hurt.
They got swept by UNH in that series on 3/5/99 & 3/6/99. Alfie started both games losing 6-1 and 4-1, but Morrison came in for relief in the Friday game.
Next game they played against each other was the Natty and we know how that turned out hehe

Yeats carried the mail in 99/00 and 00/01 and then they moved to more of a rotation in 01/02. Still hate that Timmy started Yeats over Morrison in the 2002 NC game...I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.

No disrespect to Yeats but they definitely had a weird rotation toward the end of that season, not sure if it was just to keep opposing coaches on their toes.

While this is true, Morrison was so good all season that I think he would have benefitted from the change in style in that game.

Crosby probably wouldn't even be on BC's top two lines next year

he also allowed Minny to play a lot rougher than Maine during the game.
BUT…the refs tried to make up for it on a crap “closing the hand on the puck” call against Denver, 2 years later, while Maine was on the PP already. (Bigfoot Hamilton remembers THAT game, I’m sure.)
