"exciting" off-season i must say.

while some were not surprised by UST departing (look up the summit league and it's crossover with the NACHO) i would not be surprised if AU follows in somewhat the same footsteps at some point in the future.

AU has applied to the SL and were rejected. but i am certain they are addressing the reasons why they didn't get in. AU is located in sioux falls, south dakota - and so is the summit league home.

ahh... never a boring moment.

with that being said, hoping for an exciting season in the CCHA. NMU is taking things personal with the top three coaches being alums!!

The CCHA should have given the Tommies 2024-25 conference schedule to the Augies and told StT to go schedule some additional games with their new buddies out West with all their off weeks.

Take this for what it's worth, I've read a lot of various message board threads on the topic. Officially, I have no clue since I'm a MACtion guy and we have our own set of problems to deal with. That said, Augustana will struggle to get into Summit as a full member. There are enough members in the league who are dead set against letting them in based in part on geography and splitting up fan bases (i.e. $s). Being admitted as a hockey affiliate is another matter, though.

the is an almost perfect north-south line in the summit league that includes seven schools. and AU is smack in the middle of two of them; SDSU and USD - AU is an hour's drive from either. and like i mentioned, SF is home of both the SL and AU.

sure, it's about the money... but they want in. hockey? in the end, that may be the deciding factor. but nothing is permanent. in a way WMU, MU, and ASU are only great fit$ for now.

Absolutely ridiculous price.

There's too many gaps in the schedule for that high monthly price to make sense. Take Lake State for example. No Midco games from October 20-November 7, no Midco games from November 17-28, and no Midco games from December 15 to January 2.

So then I look at the annual price and while it's lower than I remember paying FloSports for a year, it doesn't give me much value as a hockey fan. I'd occasionally watch other college hockey games on Flo or the ECHL.

So back to radio I guess.

I don't really like going West anyway. All of the schools West of the Upper Peninsula are posturing for other leagues. I think the future of Great Lakes college hockey is a combined MAC-GLIAC hockey conference.

I would have agreed with you on the MACGLIAC hockey conference prior to UMass joining the MAC. With them now as an all sport member a MAC hockey conference would likely tilt towards the east, not the upper midwest. BG, Western, Miami, UMass and some combination of schools along the likes of RIT, Bobby Mo, Utica, Binghamton would be my guess for a starting point. UMass isn't going to the Soo. Or Houghton. Or Bemidji. Or Sioux Falls.

With that said, if I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on MAC hockey any time soon ;-)

I am very disappointed in the CCHA main office. Flo had problems, but those problems were not solved by their move to Midco who has much less to offer at a still way too high price.

I think the Summit is pretty much off the table now for AU. AU applied to the Summit and were rejected before they started up their hockey team (yes, there were rumors of one starting, but nothing was set yet). Once the Summit rejected them, AU put all their eggs into the D-I hockey basket. Three Summit schools within a 90 minute radius of each other wouldn't do any of the three any good. A lot of the Augie posters on the D-II Football message board believe the Summit path is dead.

Now, I do think that once AU gets up and running, they will start making advances towards the NCHC. Will the NCHC take them and make their conference even bigger, or will there be another domino that will fall into (or out of) the mix?

There was a big article in the NY Times today about NIL. Everyone should go read it. It's eye-opening, to say the least.
