Silye going pro, Stramel looking to go to MSU. If Whitelaw follows him it will make a lot of sense as to his decision to enter the portal. Following his buddy.

Did Silye have extra eligibility? He’s 25 year old. Probably would be the oldest player in the NCAA if he returned.

Whew! I'm sure Mike and the staff are as relieved as the rest of us here that you've given him a pass. Be sure to pass that along to Chris McIntosh too, he'll be super relieved he won't have to go hunting for a new coach at least until "the pass" is revoked. Fan boards can be a lot of fun, but some people really get out way over their skis, or skates as the case may be.

Take this with a grain of salt, but some insiders over at GPL said they know things about Stramel and Whitelaw and that they would hit the portal, and they were strongly against the gophers bringing either of them into the program. Others wanted to know details, but neither person felt they should say, but stuck to their opinions on taking a pass.

So at this point the 2 Tech guys wash out DSP and Silye losses. These Tech guys are high character guys. Apparently they are hard after a killer faceoff guy from rit.

Kukkoken as a Fr had 5 ppg and 2 sh, so he was playing special teams as a Fr, very good sign. He was injured in 24 but he did play on special teams this last year, even 3 on 3, just no goals to show for it.

Ryan Botterill is coming in as a Fr.....played 2 years in the USHL (so a slightly older guy for a Fr), averaging just under a pt per game last year and this year. He was +17 2 years ago and is +18 this year.

As an off-season post mortem, I plan to look at production in 1/3 at a time over the season. I may try to go back and break down a little film but I think everyone can agree the offensive production just plummeted the last 3rd of the season.

Inability to close and finish teams off or produce SOG or take advantage of scoring opportunities was pretty brutal.

I hope Bants comes back for his last year.

A little concerning the top portal guys going elsewhere, but I'm willing to let things play out and let Hastings do his thing. This portal / NIL mess is a new era and will be tough to manage IMO.

I see Lucius is in the portal now. No way to sugar coat things at this point....going to take a lot for the portal to end up a net positive wiht the outflow of talent to the portal and pros. The Lucius clan has a long history with the incoming goalie Castro so that may be something to keep an eye on too.

Losing your 1st, 2nd and 5th point scorers and 4 of your top 10 scorers is troubling to say the least. And goalie of course.

If im being honest, I have to admit i was suprised Lucius didn't bolt when Granato got let go. Is he a talented scorer, absolutely. The scoring will be missed. However, I wasn't a fan of his dedication in the D zone.

I'm getting the feeling that next year is going to feel more like a year one than this past season. Guys who didn't really buy in fully on their way out, and some growing pains waiting for scheme guys to get into the program.

You are likely right about Castro as they just got the RIT goalie.
