I believe that there is a contact to email questions to.

With the ever-changing landscape of the NCAA, the NCAA now allows for the formation of college sports collectives. The Black Bear community is now able to financially support the team’s players through the Bear Down Collective (BDC). Coach Ben quote "The BDC provides us the flexibility to attract and retain the top - tier talent within Maine Athletics." The Bear Down Collective allows fans, alumni, and supporters to donate at any level directly to the sport of their choice. Individual supporters can visit the BDC here: Membership | Bear Down Collective

In Bangor on business and stopped by the Alfond. Renovations are coming along nicely. The schedule should be released in 2-3 weeks and season tickets will follow in snail mail soon thereafter.

Bear Necessities is having a sale, btw. Authentics are only $100 down from $150...

Oh, and we need a new banner for NC$$ appearances. The one that's hanging is full and there's no room to add 2024...

The better scholarship-worthy players are still going to have ice time expectations, and if they're not met, they're bound for the portal shortly. Schools with too many scholarships will get reputations, and advisors aren't going to be happy either if/when their clients find a year or two of their eligibility "burnt" on them.

I guess we can only wait and see...gauge how it effects programs in the next 2-3 years...bottom line just go to the rink and enjoy the game and let the chips fall where they may...have seen many changes..good & bad, just another tweak to think about.

The scholarship cap was removed in every sport, not just hockey. I don't think many athletic programs in the country can afford the extra scholarships across all sports. Schools could up the number of scholarships only in certain sports but not others, but how many are really going to choose men's hockey? Plus, per Title IX, schools would then have the proportionally increase the number for women's sports as well.

Even just taking North Dakota as an example, their athletic revenue versus expenses is break-even. Where are they going to find the money to award all these extra scholarships (including the same number for women), let alone pay players salaries?

Will the next “innovation “ be bidding wars aimed at hiring other teams’ players who have performed well but may be “underpaid”?
I don't know the background of any specific case, but I'm pretty confident in saying that has already happened. There's no doubt it has in FB and BB. Thankfully, $$ haven't corrupted our favorite game to a degree remotely close to what's been seen in those big revenue sports, but we'd be naive to think bidding wars guided by "family advisors" (agents) aren't happening.
