Missed this post when we were very gone, but looking around the main USCHO site- 4 days after you posted this, McGroarty signed with the Penguins. For some reason, it's not mentioned on mgoblue, but he's also no longer on the roster. Oh, well.

Not what to make of the team. Started out really strong, controlled the puck, kept the mistakes down. But could not score.
Once they did, it felt that they could keep going, but then MnSt scored, and really took the air out of the team. Their second goal was from a bad puck on stick/tripped on a crack. And the third was a horrible turn over. Can't really afford to give good team chances.
Not much energy in the third until a little once we got the 2nd goal, and then another bad play where we had 4 of the 5 above the dots leaving MnSt a pretty clean goal to attack.
Lots of misses- missed open nets, missed pucks, missed checks, etc.
So dunno.

The one thing, for sure, that needs addressed is allowing odd man rushes.

I think we all want to say they played very different tonight, but I didn't see that. Way less shots on goal, so MnSt blocked a lot or prevented a lot. The big difference were the first two goals- huge momentum. And that second one by Hage was spectacular- taking the puck right in front of the defenseman to shoot it on the wide side- wow. I can take more of that. Spectacular.
Had a *little* more confidence in the goaltending, but barely any. Maybe because he has a Finnish name, LOL... I will say that I'm glad he's on the roster as a Freshman- given two equal goalies, I will take the younger. He stoned some nice rushes, including a pretty clean break away.
Speaking of that- better giving up odd man rushes, but I bet other team will bury more of those. But better means better.
Honestly, the only actual concern I have is that they again ran out of energy in the third. You could see them getting behind MnSt with the puck and starting to chase them around. But at least that didn't really lead to bad turn overs at bad times.
And I really love some of the creativity we see out there. That's so much fun. I get this is a really hard way to having realistic, consistent chances at NCs. But from an entertainment perspective- it's fun to see that kind of play.

I am dissapointed that with a regular season game, there will be no SCSU cheerleaders to mock or huskies to start fights with.Originally posted by West Texas Wolverine
