  • UMASS 2023-2024 The Flagship Rebounds??

Nice win against AIC. Five goals leads to some optimism since goal scoring was a problem last year. No idea how the team will look this year with so many new faces-recruits and transfers. Here's hoping Carvell gets the Minutemen back on track!

Five more goals against Dartmouth. What is going on here? I think they have already scored more goals this year than all of last year! GO UMASS!

Big series/test this weekend as the Minutemen welcome Michigan for two games. It will be interesting to see if UMASS can hang with them. A reason for optimism is that they actually scored a few goals in the first couple of games. Also, this should be a good series to see where their goaltending stands. If they can keep the score down, they have a chance. Looking forward to it. The following weekend is Minnesota State. Should be another good tests. GO UMASS!

What a crazy series this weekend against Michigan. Michigan shellacs UMASS 7-2 on Friday and UMASS bounces back with a 6-3 win on Saturday. 6 third period goals (2 empty netters) makes for a wild 3rd period. I think the freshman Hrabal in goal was the big difference. Not sure Brady is the man in net. Was hoping for a split and got it. The fact that UMASS is scoring goals is a great reason for optimism this year.

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys in Mankato next weekend.
My guy is a hard-nosed hockey player who is not afraid to crash the net. Your guy is a goon who runs the goalie.

Excited about this weekend series. Might provide some clarity on how good UMASS is. Michigan last weekend, Mankato this weekend, BU next weekend. Good early contests..especially with all the new faces. Who starts in goal is a big question. Would not be surprised if Hrabal starts both games. Away games really brings out the best/worst of teams. Hoping for a split. Mankato will be flying high after last weekend.

Hrabal is potentially a game changer.

Carvel has been doing a lot of navel gazing about his coaching philosophy. Alot of talk about the loss of Barr and that hurt. But not because of his recruiting prowess. The past 2 recruiting classes are solid, there are 13 draft picks here.

It’s going to be an interesting year. I’m hoping for a weekend split here and next week versus BU.

You guys have a really good team. Size and speed and an attack mentality. Our lack of discipline hurt us in penalties and on the power play, but there wasn't much doubt that UMass was the better team.

Something has changed with the coaching philosophy- perhaps due to new faces but I'm stunned by how many goals they are scoring. Last year they couldn't put the puck in the net.

WOW! Didn't expect to win both games. Even more surprising is winning the second one 1-0. Didn't see game but 8 penalties killed bodes well for the team. Hrabal seems like the real deal with 32 saves. UMASS was lucky to have Linberg and Murray at the same time. Hrabal looks like he is going to step in and be the guy in net. We'll see how it goes as the season progresses but you have to be optimistic. Love to hear from someone who saw the series in person.

Really excited to see what happens this weekend against BU. Hard to tell where BU is this year. HE game so it will be important to both schools. Thought UMASS would get most votes in the polls after splitting with Michigan and sweeping Mankato. Polls really don't have much meaning this early in the season but glad to see the Minutemen get into the top 20.

                      Some good press here too!

Disappointing loss last night. 5-2 seems a little lopsided. Outshot 35-20.....this is what happened last year-not enough SOGs. Hoping for a better result tonight in Amherst. GO UMASS!

Watching UMass games always hurts my brain with the slightly lower view and zoomed in camera angles. Now that I got off my chest, I'm pretty impressed with your group this year. I didn't think they'd be as talented as they are. Jack Musa and Kenny Connors are super legit

Disappointing weekend. Thought UMASS would pull out a split but BU got the equalizer in the third period. Still unclear if UMASS is good or just mediocre again. Three tough series (Michigan, Manakato, BU) to start the year under the belt so maybe some easier opponents will be on the horizon. HE looks pretty good this year so every team needs to be playing their best. Should be an interesting season.

The Minutemen are good. HEA is very good this year so it may not translate to a much higher placement in the standings. It’s all good.
