  • So UNHs new recruit 16 year old Ryan Grout is the 6th rated goalie for the 2025 NHL draft. He's been climbing steadily over the last 8 months. If they were smart they'd bring him in in 2025 as a true 18 year old. On another recruit Jack Sadowski he's tearing it up and will be more than ready to come in next year as a true 18 year old. Since he's their best foward recruit why wouldn't you?

On the goal tender Grout (has a nice ring to it) I'd think they'd have no choice but to bring him in ..on the other would think so as well?
I think he's playing a game near me soon (Sadowski) might check it out.

Another piece of that puzzle is how things will work IF UNH makes a coaching change but thats another topic in itself!

      • The calm before the storm… BC 5 UNH 1.

I just don’t see a realistic path to victory for the ‘Cats tomorrow night. Their only hope is Helsten plays out of his mind, and possibly steals a win, or more likely a tie (then loss in OT). BC just has too much depth.

Like you, I remember him using his speed and maneuverability to create lots of great scoring chances in which he commonly missed “high and wide.” And, I do not mean just missing the top shelf corners, but really high and wide, as in several feet. :-)
Sorry Snives, I must have misunderstood your first post. And hot or cold, that boy could fly!

Totally agree, it would take BC laying a dud for us to have any chance. It is hockey so anything can happen.

How ya feeling about Sat? That's the one I'm going to. Sure would be nice to see a Wildcat upset of sorts but I suppose I just hope they give em a game.

There should be no doubt who BC is so hope they are prepared!

Feeling a bit uneasy about all of our remaining games!

                • All fans should feel uneasy, the coach really doesn’t shine this time of year. PP and PK stinks, BC’s are really good.

Win at Lawlor on Saturday night, sweep the Ospreys, and win MBPBEGAM game for a 18-17-1 winning record, MS7’s first, and presto bingo, a 3-year contract extension for MS7, and the end of our Cellar Dweller Era, Scott’s thread title. What’s not to like? Relax! Be happy!!

                      Not to like...

                      18-17-1 - being considered successful - yuck
                      3-year contract extension - ugh!

That extension is at least two (2) years too long for a game over .500, unless there is postseason success to follow.

Well when you put it that way Snives it's hard to argue! Year to date the team has definitely shown marked improvement over years past. Problem is, I'm really not sure how that makes me feel, is it enough to warrant an extension, maybe. My gut, unless UNH pulls off a great finish (6 or more wins would qualify as great IMO), it hasn't been good enough. The decision for the AD is going to be a tough one.

Well, regardless of how long, I believe there's going to be some kind of contract. Money talks. He brought in money. I'd think those donors expect him to
be on the ticket. He's had a 'better season' tho we still won't know how 'good' it was/is until the very end of it. Plus, he has some very influential supporters at the 'Whitt..

Yeah Snively! What's there not to like??!!

Bigger fish to fry tho right now; will Conmy be in the line up? How many goals will BC put up tonight in their post Beanpot revenge of sorts? Will UNH pull a rabbit out of
their stick bags and make it a go? Will Lawlor continue to be a 'hard place to play'???

                            HR's Predicts

Sat: UNH 2 MC 1 (OT, wins the shootout)

WAAAAY back in the day they offered a membership or had a fundraiser. Pretty sure I still have my USCHO ball cap thank you gift.

I will not be out cheered in my own building.

That would be an incredibly weak statement of the value of renewing the current coach for a year, much less three years.

A real D-1 head coach, in charge of a traditionally strong national program, competing in arguably the most competitive D-1 conference in the country, should be able to find a way to a win and a tie in these two games. Didn't BC just lose their Beanpot semi to BU? Why are we acting like they're unbeatable in February?? I don't see Jerry York behind their bench. IF these predicted results turn out anywhere near the reality of this coming weekend, I'd be despondent. Especially an OT tie against the 'Mack (even though I pretty much predicted this catastrophic outcome around this time last week) ...

... so I come to the conclusion you've bought the party line, and believe MS7 gets (over)renewed because of his purported fundraising prowess? Maybe if he and TDL are such tight buddies, MS7 can take over the McIntyre project in Portsmouth for him once our steely-eyed AD Rich thanks him for his services, and wishes him luck in his future endeavors away from Durham??

                                Friday: UNH 3 BC 1
                                Saturday: UNH 4 MC 1

NOW is the time to put the pedal to the metal, and make a statement of true intent for UNH. If not, get someone in who can next year ...
