  • 2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Time for a new thread for 2023 / 2024 for BC. Good class coming in with high expectations. Time for Coach Brown to show us what he can do in his second year. Preseason polls puts them in the top 4 in Hockey East. One big issue was the penalty kill last year and it should be better this year. If not, we're in big trouble again. Fire away gang )

Defense is the key, need solid goal tending, Dopp was not up to the task, Benson was better but not quite at the level they needed.

I still don't know who the extra skater will be. They have seven legitimate defensemen, so I would think it that's who the coaches would roll with.

But, Gentry Shamburger is the only player on the team to be wearing an "A." Will they have him be the healthy scratch?

I guess we can stop crying about recruiting now?

Originally from southern New Hampshire now in the Chucktown area of South Carolina. As a BC fan (because my Dad went there), I've seen the highest highs (winning the NC against North Dakota) and the lowest lows (Losing it to Michigan at TD Garden). But what got me out of a three-year malaise about BC was seeing them ranked so high by this site for the upcoming year. I won't ask how that can be; I'll read through the posts and understand how that can be. I just hope they can comport themselves against Q in the opener.

Took less than a week for BU to strike back flipping Eiserman from Minnesota to BU. They've now committed possibly the #1 and #2 overall picks in the 2024 draft. BC has had some scores, but there is no doubt thus far that BU is out recruiting BC for the next couple of classes.

Both BC and BU will struggle to keep the first round picks more than one season and at best two seasons. We need good 3 and 4 year players to win in college hockey. BC has good juniors and seniors this year. BU lost a lot of upperclassmen and their goalie.

I think Denver is the best team in the west. Great early schedule for BC with terrific home games against DU & MSU!

                  Go Eagles!

Just a counterpoint - yes, BU lost seniors Skoog, Jay O'Brien, and Matt Brown, and Junior goalie Drew Commesso. However, they bring back seniors Luke Tuch, Dylan Peterson, Cade Webber and 5th year Case McCarthy - all drafted in the 4th round or higher. Plus senior Nick Zabaneh and 5th year Sam Stevens. Like BC, BU will rely on some talented young guys, but having all those upperclassmen back that should see regular shifts is a huge win for BU and I am confident in saying would not have happened under our old coach.

That's a lot of Nesn games, that's awesome. For those without NESN, it's also going to be on ESPN+
