  • When I cannot watch the game, I am always so grateful for Iowa’s updates.

    • Terrible loss.

      • Disgraceful but no surprise. We've choked with EAGs before. Gylander...has let in his fair share all season.

        • How many extra attacker goals can we surrender? Geez.

          • Losing faceoffs doesn’t help.

            • On the bright side, we clinch a bye with a regulation win vs Clarkson tomorrow. Which may be a tall order.

              • We never trailed tonight. And we LOST.

For most of the game, we were poised to earn 3 points. And only got ONE!

This really stings and is the kind of loss that can derail a team. Oh, and the same problem we had last season - giving up extra attacker goals - has carried over into this season. Hopefully the team can forget about this result and focus on the next game.

                • I don’t bad-mouth officials’ calls (or non-calls) and I don’t bad-mouth the opposition (well, for the most part). So there wasn’t much to say about the first two periods. We dominated and Saint Lawrence never had one sustained effort in our end. Not one. They had 11 shots on goal… in two periods!!

At the start of the third, I told the SLU season ticket-holder next to me, ‘this is where we typically go into a defensive shell for the entire third period.’ His response? ‘I think you’re safe tonight.’

Well, 18 SLU SOG later, we were headed to OT. One shot later and we were headed to the dressing room and then the bus.

The third-period implosion was like one of those multi-story buildings with choreographed explosives going off… you basically knew what was coming but you couldn’t take your eyes off it. ‘Night.

                  • Of course I'm disappointed that the Raiders lost a three goal lead. But we have to remember that there's another team on the ice also fighting hard to win, which does what is needed to persevere. Sometimes I look at it as the other team comes back and wins the game, not that our team lost.

Let's not be so hard on our guys. I'm glad some of the commentators, with their continuously negative assessments, aren't on the coaching staff!

If someone told me at the beginning of the season that we'd be in third place and six points ahead of the fifth place team with three games to go in the season, I'd be absolutely delighted and proud.

(I note that Cornell lost a one goal lead at the end of the third period and lost in overtime, too. Even really good teams falter to an aggressive opponent. Clarkson and St. Lawrence took advantage of their home rink advantages to win over teams higher in the standings. Congrats to them.)

                    • We were awful in the third, looked like they were sleepwalking, if we don't win tonight and Union wins we will only be ahead of fifth place Union by three points.
Magoo I hope your observation earlier that our game against Union next weekend will be for home ice isn't correct.
It all starts with the goaltending.

                      • This "third period meltdown" trend has been going on for almost two full seasons...how many points have we left on the table? One expects EAGs to occur and one expects to lose second period leads, but this is now getting ridiculous...IBT has it right: it's become a self-fulfilling prophecy now...points tonight would be very helpful...3 points last night would've essentially placed us third going into the playoffs...

It may be if we get 0 points tonight. But we clinch at least 4th place with a regulation win over Clarkson.

Any win tonight will clinch. We are 5 up on clarkson, with a win (even in OT, we get to 37, they get to 31) with 6 more points possible. however we won in Hamilton and would have won at cheel giving us the auto tie breaker.

                              • One would hope that Clarkson was jacked to play Cornell and will fall flat tonight.
