In fact, the same thing applied to the staff who preceded these guys for a quarter century or so.
That is why my surprise of what I posted. We have not had a history of running up the score and beating the spread of 49 points means at least 8 scores. I have seen a number of games where we just barely get that many possessions. I was going to say i am not usually a betting man but in this case i just might be!

          • Kevin Beattie moving on from RPI for new job at Albany Law. Congrats to Kevin on a 25+ year career at RPI...personally, he treated my dad very well over the years and I wish him all the best in his new gig.

            • The turnover in the school and the athletic department has been pretty insane in the last year. For the school admin, I feel like it's pretty clear that Marty was pushing some people out. For the athletics people like Dana, Norris, McElroy and now Kevin, I wonder what the driving force is. Could be that they all were ready for new opportunities after being at the school for ages (Dr. McElroy is a bit different here so don't include him for this statement), but it's odd that they all moved on at the same time.

Hard, and unfair, to draw conclusions without hearing from the people involved. Sometimes, people are presented with fresh opportunities that provide professional growth and better pay--those can often be reasons to leave a longstanding job voluntarily. Management turnover can also cause people to consider options, even when their future boss is not yet known; that's just a feature of human behavior.

Of course, there may be other reasons; the Schenectady Gazette article Wicked Slappaahs linked made it clear that this most recent move was set in motion because of an unsuccessful attempt to gain a promotion. That can happen without leadership necessarily wanting someone to leave, especially someone who seemed like a great employee, but those risks were likely considered and those are the hard decisions that come up in any organization.

                      • Score update-RPI girls tied RIT 1-1 in overtime. A game that they seemed to have the offensive advantage until late but had to come from behind with a late extra attacker goal to tie it.
If you took the 49 points with Dean today you would still be lising after the first half as RPI leads 56-0!!

                        • RPI took it easy on them in the second half and cruised to a 63-0 win. Nice to cover a 49 point spread. On to Ithaca next week.

Ithaca is in 2 weeks, we have a bye week next week. Ithaca will be a whole different can of worms than Dean. BTW not only Ithaca, but usual culprits of Union and Hobart await and both will be severe tests. i know the competition played by the Liberty League teams has not been top notch but Union and RPI and Hobart have steamrolled the competition and Union in particular being undefeated and almost unscored upon also mauled Springfield which has not been a walk in the park for other teams and was a ranked team when they beat them yet none of these LL teams get even a single vote nationally. Ithaca has gotten some votes but has one loss hung on them.
