I suspect and hope that Miller, the goalie who will probably be gone after this year, was penciled in from the start as the third string goalie and is either a walk-on or on a small partial scholarship perhaps with other funding in addition. With 18 scholarships, at most 2 can be allotted to goalies. His replacement would be similar.

    • We have two separate problems this season.
The coaching is far from adequate. (see special teams).
      Second, on ice leadership.
I have gained so much more respect for Hallbauer and Klee this year.
These are big problems and won't be fixed this year.
Ralph, I think that we have to change the title to this thread. JMO
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Good point, not that it is possible to change it. I do think that we should start a new one when we get to 1000 posts. I vote for

        • How about: RPI 2023-24 (Part II): The search for special teams excellence?
The search for the Cross will be a lot easier.

Can't we just start a new thread now and let this one fade into the sunset?

                • For those interested in the odds for this week

The boys are a 1.5 goal underdog against UNH
The girls are a 1.5 goal favorite for Friday and a 0.5 goal favorite for Saturday against Union

Makes no difference to me - unless it changes the course of the season.

Since I was given credit for suggesting a thread title that would refer to RPI's 200th anniversary, I'll just say that I won't be terribly offended if this thread is terminated early.

Though we can always hope, it is getting rather hard to imagine RPI's season experiencing such a dramatic turnaround as to suggest that we are, indeed, getting it right this year.

                            • RPI's 62 goals against leads the nation in 12 games. Army has 62 in 14 games, Stonehill has 70 in 14 games, Lindenwood 76 in 16 games both new D1 programs.

So they don't lead the nation in goals against?

They do have the worst SV% from their goalies in the nation though
