For those wondering, the season ticket apps landed in the mail this week (for those who haven't downloaded them from the website).

Weather forecast for Carlisle tomorrow is for sunny weather with a high in the mid-80's and low humidity. It's a good thing the football game is tomorrow, because the forecast calls for a heat wave, with perhaps the hottest weather yet this summer, starting Sunday.

Safe travels to Tony/Troy and any others who may be planning to travel to RPI's opening football game.

Thank you for the thought. However and unfortunately, the plans for a leisurely Friday drive down, a nice dinner and an overnight stay were not meant to be due to not selling my childhood home upon inheriting the damned thing. Instead and sometimes regrettably, renovated it and moved in. This time it was a crumbling 64 year old cast iron sewage pipe that buckled at a joint and clogged everything. Somebody had to stay home to dig a ditch, fill it back in and pay the plumber for the PCB replacement (the part that hurt the most).

Last time it was furnace quitting late the night before the playoff game at Endicott which deep sixed that trip on account of a stinking $13 part that picked that night to quit.

Almost seems like this place does not like RPI and picks the days when occupants wish to travel out of town to RPI football to rear its' head and act up. Funny that it's rather unproblematic at virtually all other times.

Maybe the place is trying to tell me that I should have remained a renter so I could go to a freakin out of town game every now and then. Other later opportunities this year still exist for WPI, SLU or Hobart but, with this place, who knows. On the positive side, however, the place did not act up and gave me the needed five hours or so to travel and watch both of the games at Union since I moved in. Gee, thanks for the opportunity to visit such a "beautiful" city and get to do it twice!!!

For the football fans, RPI got off to a winning start with a 38-27 victory over Dickinson this afternoon in Carlisle, PA.

The first half was pretty even, with RPI taking the lead, 14-7, on a touchdown in the last minute of the second quarter. The running attack, which in the first half had been almost nonexistent except for quarterback keepers by Jake Kazanowsky, came alive behind Kayden White in the second half, and the Engineers opened their lead to 21-7 and then 24-7. Though Dickinson didn't quit and put three touchdowns on the board in the fourth quarter against an RPI defense which had had a long day in the heat, RPI's lead never dropped below ten points.

We had quite a sizable and noisy crowd of fans on the RPI side. Good to see.

Agreed. I wonder if the guy actually came from Penticton with the ring, seems doubtful.

Watched on line and listened to Kurt on WRPI which was running about 1 minute ahead of the video. We looked OK for our first road game but with only one criticism - we will need to find a better punting game for the tougher opponents. This season looks like the last many years - 7 games we could ot should win and 3 very tough opponents. Ithaca, Union and Hobart will determine how this team finishes the season. i do think we are a rather small team up front on both offensive and defensive lines and hopefully that will not be a problem against the humongous lines we will face. When I was a youngster, Bid daddy Lipscomb was one of the bigger fellows and he went about 288 pounds I believe. Now on some teams that could almost be an offensive running back!

I had forgotten yesterday to post that the odds for the game had RPI favored by 4.5 points on the road so we beat the spread. If not for the late touchdown which mattered little for Dickinson, the nature of the game would have been a bit more reflected in the score. Union rolled over a very weak opponent, Hobart won but Ithaca lost their season opener against a bit more formidable opposition.
